Was about to write something similar....Wolfsburg can challenge Bayern for the title 5 years in a row, but they will always be a team without any flair/proper support.

There is nothing interesting about them, their history, their fans or the town...

Dortmund-Bayern was a good rivalry simply because both are clubs with a huge support/history ( Schalke-Bayern or Gladbach-Bayern would be a similar caliber)

Wolfsburg sold 200 tickets when they played in Frankfurt on Tuesday night....only a couple of days after they twatted Bayern and while they are second in the league.

The pure thought of them representing Germany in the EL/CL makes me feel like throwing up.

I dont really get that argument. You create your own history and if wolfsburg win the title for the next ten years that history. Then in 30 years time people can look back and say wow what a time for Wolfsburg. Its like you can only be accepted if you have amazing fans swell ( thats how its coming across ) so what if you dont have huge support or crazy fans every week. Its the same attitude united and liverpool fans have i.e. you've got no history. You create history now.

Not sure how to explain it as most of it will most likely get lost in translation, but Wolfsburg is one of those soulless clubs for me similar to Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, Leipzig etc.

Sure they will get their place in the history books if they win the title, but Wolfsburg simply is no football town.

The only thing its know for is VW and thats it. There is literally nothing else there, you cant even get drunk up there because there is absolutely nothing to do out there.

I pretty much doubt that even if they will win the title for 10 years in a row that their support will increase significantly. Wolfsburg will play Hoffenheim this weekend and its going to be super interesting...empty away section, empty home section.

Meanwhile Allemania Aachen play Rot Weiß Essen in front of 30000 people in the 4th division. Tradition does play a role in football and it makes rivalries so much more interesting...

Unfortunately it seems like the Wolfsburg/Hoffenheim/Rattensport Leipzig (sorry Insbruck Blue!) projects are the future of our sport while clubs like Nürnberg, Stuttgart, Köln, Kaiserslautern, Frankfurt etc. will be falling more and more behind...

I never got why United and Liverpool call Chelse and City "plastic" clubs...yes you got your windfall, but you have been around since forever, unlike above mentioned German clubs. For me those are completely different worlds....

Former Eintracht Frankfurt player Benjamin Köhler (played 9 years for us) was diagnosed with cancer this week.

His current club Union Berlin immediately extended his contract for another year which is a great gesture by the club and hopefully gives Benny the power to fight back!

Kämpfen Benny!!

Not only that, I disagree with this notion that a lack of recent European trophies or League wins automatically means "no history".

When Wolfsburg was created in 1945 in the immediate aftermath of the war, and with it's connection to Wolfsburg---that's interesting, and that is "history" too in it's own way.

I'm watching Dresden - Erfurt on German TV (3 Liga). Anyone know why there's no fans at all??

No fans allowed due to the riots between Dresden and Rostock a while back.

Thanks I thought that might be the reason. I remember one of those clubs being banned from the DFB Pokal.

My German's not very good, what's all this about?

Essentially the Aue supporters likened Mateschitz (creator of Red Bull) to a Nazi.

I think the banner roughly translates to "An Austrian calls and you follow blind and every child knows how that ends. You would have been good Nazis!"

I think it's good humour but I can understand Aue distancing themselves and apologising on behalf of their supporters.

the second banner shows Red Bull boss Mateschitz in a Nazi uniform, saying: From Austria only the best for germany.

Quite unusual from the "Wismut" fans, they are not known for such rough words.

Usual childish crap from fans of 'Traditionsvereine', having a go at Leipzig. I wonder if the Aue fans remember their club being state funded in the GDR years?
