The funny thing is that Honigstein is not really well known in Germany.
Could be that he is more known in the southern parts of Germany as he seems to write for the Süddeutsche Newspaper, but in general he doesnt seem to have the standing that he has in the UK. Guess he is pretty unique in England as he seems to be the "go to" insider for everything related to the Bundesliga, but he definitely doesnt have the reputation in Germany that he has in the UK.
The first time I actually became aware that there is a German journo writing for the british press was when I watched a documentary about how football culture in England has changed since the Hillsborough disaster. He had a short interview in this documentary and I found it pretty strange why they would interview a German about English football culture.
