He is definitely the best right back I have seen in my lifetime and the from the many matches I have seen of past eras the best right back I have seen ever. I think it's probably a mistake for him to retire now and certainly a mistake to announce it after the world cup. He is no doubt exhausted. I think he should step down as captain and see how he feels. Germany need him in the future. Muller, Lahm and Klose are the only three players they have no replacement for. Hopefully he changes his mind.

I was proud to see Neuer Özil Höwedes and Draxler four players of Schalke youth become World Champions
then I saw Grosskreutz celebrating and I knew its still club and not country for me

Enough of Brazil back to Bundesliga like the title says. :o)

I'm def going to watch Dortmund more closely now, they have 2 top American prospects in their ranks and one Joe Gyau scored today in their friendly.

right, it starts on Aug, 22th, Bayern wanted to start a week later to give their world cup players a rest, but the other clubs of the Bundesliga said no.

Anyway, that way Bayern will get the next title a week earlier, while other clubs are still waiting for a long time.

That is how long the Bundesliga clubs are waiting for the german title

FC Bayern 2 months

Borussia Dortmund 2 years 2 months

VfL Wolfsburg 5 years, 2 months

VfB Stuttgart 7 years, 2 months

Werder Bremen 10 years, 2 months

Hamburger SV 31 years. 1 month

1.FC Köln 36 years, 3 months

Borussia Mönchengladbach 37 years, 2 months

Eintracht Frankfurt 55 years, 1 months

Schalke 04 56 years, 2 months

Hannover 96 60 years, 3 months

Hertha BSC 83 years, 1 month

The following clubs had never won the german title, so they are waiting since their club was founded.

FC Augsburg 106 years, 11 months

SC Paderborn 106 years, 11 months

Mainz 05 109 years, 4 months

Bayer Leverkusen 110 years

SC Freiburg 110 years, 2 months

1899 Hoffenheim 115 years

quite looking forward to the up and coming bundesliga season, just hope the likes of Schalke and Dortmund can upset the status quo that is Bayern to make it very interesting (as unlikely as that seems).

Cottbus has gone down last season.
i´m afraid, Leipzig can already be a contender for promotion this season. Red Bull has the money for it.

Thanks for that, I knew Dresden went down but I wasn't sure who the other was.

Hmm...did Robben come up with that design?
Looks horrible but will sell anyway among the plastics. Hope the Bayern fans take a stand against the design similar to how Bremen Fans did a couple of years back with their orange design.

Meanwhile I dread the coming season...just to see some of the names that our management seems to target as potential new signings makes me want to quit my club membership.

@Alex: Your website is coming along nicely! Well done

Götze und Hummels had severe injuries today and they will be out for months.

Well, it was Fabian Götze and Jonas Hummels, the less talented brothers of the world cup winners. Both are playing at Spvgg Unterhaching, which started in the new League 3 season in germany today.

Don´t know, what is worse: To play in League 3, while your brother makes millions or to be a club, that can only afford the names of star players, but not the stars.

Well, anyway, in the graveyard of tradition, which is League 3, Dynamo Dresden, Arminia Bielefeld and the sky blues of Chemnitzer FC started with wins, while the zebras of MSV Duisburg suffered a clear defeat at Regensburg.

Schweinsteiger and Ribery are playing for Bayern's U23 team - Tobias and Steeven - the later gets better and better, he is 19 but had stopped to play for a year until he started again at Bayern a year ago. First played for the U19, now for the U23. His brother was a late starter - you never know. And the other Götze brother in the U17 now.

Meanwhile the real Ribery was subbed for Lukas Scholl in the match in the Telekom Cup. In 2007 Ribery replaced his father in the squad - could be that in 2 or 3 years his son will replace Ribery... He and Mauricio Gaudino's son (who has played for City in 1995) still play U19 but Pep often let's them join training sessions with the professionals.

I agree with you regarding Eintracht. All the signings seem really unambitious, plus letting Jung leave for peanuts and Rode on a free makes me question the people in high places at the club. Surely you could've gotten some money for Rode. Also, why was Oliver-Kempf allowed to leave, he seemed to have the potential to be special.

Well its the general issue of a "small club" not beeing able to hold their young players as soon as Bayern, Schalke etc. come in throwing around money.

Jung will get a lot of starting time at Wolfsburg and will develop further. Not sure why Rode joined Bayern as he won´t play a lot and would have been better at a team like Gladbach, Leverkusen etc. where he would play on a regular basis.

Kempf leaving is something no one understands (according to rumours he wanted to leave)....In general our transfer politics have been horrible and it seems like we signed Nelson fucking Valdez as a striker.

Letting the young players leave and buying some guy who never really impressed in the Bundesliga, is 30 years old and comes from Al Jazira really makes me question our board.

Going to be a fun season and I am pretty sure that we will either go down again or are in for a tough fight till the season is over.

Considering the potential we have in Frankfurt (club is well supported and the city is the financial center of Europe) I really wonder how we manage to fuck up year after year. Especially as other clubs who are on our level (Köln, Hannover etc.) all seem to have done better business than us.

Exactly, Rode would've been excellent at someone like Leverkusen etc.. Jung's move will be a good one for him, as Wolfsburg look like they could challenge Schalke and Dortmund this season. However, if Hecking is the man to do this is another question.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Hoffenheim next season, Markus Gisdol has done a great job there, considering he was brought in when they were flirting with relegation. If they can create a solid back four they could easily qualify for the Europa League. I'm looking forward to see how Firmino and Volland get on.
I'm actually worried for Eintracht, as to me there squad looks really weak. Two of your best players have left, and the signings as you've mentioned are lacklustre. Paderborn look to suffer the same fate as Fuerth and Braunschweig. But after that, I think it'll be a battle between, Cologne, Eintracht, Hannover and Mainz for the other places. I say Mainz, as I think without Tuchel they'll really struggle.
