One question I meant to ask in my earlier post. There were two concrete constructions situated at the side of the Commerzbank-Arena/Waldstadion. Both about the same height as the stadium. They looked like lift shafts. One had some air con units in it. Most bizzarre.

WTF are they?

Sounds like you are talking about the air conditioning for the underground car park which is reserved for the people on the business seats. :)

That´s the spirit! Success is all that matters!

Pretty sure that if you lookup "Bayern Fan" in a dictionary a pic of you will show up BB.
;)

We had this discussion before and I am sure that our views will never match, but I personally consider it worrying how arrogant you can sound towards other clubs.

I am pretty sure that Eintracht Frankfurt will not have any meaningful success in the next 100 years, so our loyality and passion is something I feast on.

You consider this some last resort for fans of shit clubs, but to me there is nothing left other than feeling pride for taking thousands wherever we go, for beeing there no matter which division we play and for creating a wall of noise wherever we go.

This IS something to be proud of! Maybe this comes automatically by going through hell and back with your club.
You will most likely never be in the same position with Bayern, but talking down other fans because of it?

And even though you dont like Schickeria they are part of Munichs fanscene, same as the hooligans, same as the casual folks that go once every bluemoon, same as the veteran season card holder or the tourists.

Its the sum of all the little pieces that adds up to the football event and in the case of Schickeria I am pretty sure that your Arena would be completely dead without them and its not like it is a cauldron of noise at home anyway.

Atmosphere and singing is part of the football experience and I personally never want to see an atmosphere similar to the National Team matches at my own club.

People with silly hats, clapping hands and flags painted on their faces....

Football has to be dirty, smelly and loud. The day those plastic events become a common sight in the Bundesliga is the day I stop going.

But yeah, thats maybe just my two cents.

A - I have paid my dues matey boy. I have followed Bayern all over Germany and all over Europe, for around thirty f##king years.
Nobody needs to tell me how a fan should behave.

B - I sound no more arrogant about others than you sound condescending about Bayern. If you give it out you have to take it.

C - Bayern also take (noisy) thousands wherever they go. I should know, I'm one of them.

"Sad fuckers" is a very questionable phrase. It encompasses the VAST majority of football fans. If these "sad" people just packed it in, football would be a miserable game. Bare in mind that you are on a Man City forum, we know what it's like not to win anything.

Don't misunderstand me mate, I'm a Sheffield United supporter, we patented f##king losing !

Always remember dozzell getting an equalizer against your lot, two late goals by both teams. How is kitson doing? I always thought he was half decent at reading, hes a spurs fan too

Kitson is doing alright from what I've seen of him (I only see a few games a year as I live in Germany).
My first ever Bayern euro away game was at Spurs, a 2-0 defeat in 1983.

Always funny to have a debate about FC Bayern atmosphere on a Man City forum.

But in general on atmosphere: some of you following the Bundesliga on tv or have visited a match in germany may wonder, what german fans sing about all the time and endlessly. Well very rarely it is about players, only if they are in the club for a long time. The chants are mostly about tradition (yes, german fans are obsessed with it), club colours, their hometown or the joy of matchday or going to away matches.

I have roughly translated some classic chants to give you an impression.

1. self-irony
Some fans like to turn an anti-song into their own one. Here St.Pauli fans. Neonazis use to call the left „ticks“ (that parasites), but St.Pauli fans turned in into a classic tune.

We are ticks
Non-socialized tics
We sleep under bridges
Or at the travellers aid

2. Tradition
Here an example of Eintracht Braunschweig. They have only won a single title in 1967. So at the 67th minute of every match they start to sing

German champion, german champion
In the colours yellow and blue
1967
That was our BTSV

3. Loyalty
Every set of fans has a song about the loyalty to the club. Here is one with some strange lyrics by Union Berlin fans

Towards the daybreak
We move up against the wind
We will experience everything
Until we are german champions
FC Union, you should shine
like the brightest gloriole
And from everywhere it should sound
FC Union my club

4. Beer
Schalke fans have a song, that goes like this. „Going to the stadium with a paper cup of beer, standing in the north stand, that is Schalke 04.“ Borussia Dortmund´s fans have a more rude version of a beer song (at 1.00 in the video)

Coming home lately and drunken
Your missus starts to moan
Where are you coming from, you drunken pig?
From BVB, that´s my club

5. Adapted songs

Well some songs just go around from club to club. This one started at Karlsruher SC in the 90s, but Hannover fans made it popular recently. It is about playing in Europe

First round Bucarest
Second round Rome
The phone rings in Copenhagen
Maybe Rotterdam
Maybe Milan
Maybe Teneriffe
A week at a sandy beach
Europa cup, Europa cup
