The world could have been a better place, but Hoffenheim managed to avoid relegation with a 1-2 away win at Kaiserslautern. Surely they won´t get in trouble next season with their new coach.
Fairplay to Lautern fans. They were celebrating their team long after the defeat and deserved a place in the Bundesliga

The German Kicker Magazine makes a ranking every half a year about the performances of the Bundesliga players. The start of this seasons list will be tomorrow - but some stuff is already known.

Usually they only give the title "world class" seldom. But this time it will be 10 times - including Neuer and Weidenfeller.

The ranking for the centrebacks:

world class
none

international class
1. Boateng
2. Dante
3. Subotic
4. Buyten
5. Hummels

further to mention
6. Naldo
7. Sokratis
8. Toprak, Stranzl
9. Ginter
10. Höwedes
11. Diagne
12. Anderson

In the focus:
Bracker
Latka
Matip
Niedermeier
Nilson
Tasci

I think they really got the ranking of the first five absolute right. Not spoiled by any hype for good looking Hummels or funny Dante - Boateng has been really great recently and even has initiated a lot of goal scenes.

You want to see how a drunk goalkeeper looks...

The nightmare continues: Leipzig have been promoted to the 3. Liga

Shame you think it's a nightmare that a small club from a big city (that desperately needs and can support league football) has won promotion to the 3. Liga. Would you rather have VfB Arschderwelt (pop. 2,000) and SpVgg Tanteemmalädchen (pop. 150) 'competing' in the league with no ambition to reach the top?

Or is football more interesting when a new team comes along and tries to upset the established old guard by spending a little cash?

Maybe we should just have a closed league like the MLS?

to call a club that invest 40 million Euros in training grounds in League 3 and is owned by one of the biggest companies in international sport (with dirty tricks against the rules) a "small" club is a little bit strange

by the way
wanna see the twin brother of Gollum?

RB Leipzig is a small club, they've yet to attract a crowd over 31,000, and for Regionalliga games only ever opened 2 sides of the ground. This is also the first time a Leipzig club will play league football for over a decade. If that disqualifies them being a small club, I'd like to know the criteria.

I'd like to know what the 'dirty tricks' are tho'.

However, as you quite rightly say, they're investing a lot of money in youth and training facilities. How else can they try and get to the top?

a club that spends 40 million in training facilities and hires former Bundesliga 2 players for League 5 isn´t a small club. Look at the other clubs in League 3 and their finances.

Dirty tricks? Decisions in a club should be made by club members according to the german football rule. How many club members are there at RB Leipzig? 9 and they all work in a way for Red Bull. The membership is abot 15 times higher than at Schalke and even if one would pay it, they can refuse membership. Very clever those guys

So the size of a club is based on its finances? By that reckoning, City were a small club in the 90s, BVB when they were bailed out by Bayern, Dynamo Dresden, etc.
Why do RB keep getting awarded licences by the authorities then? They're quite obviously not breaking any rules, if anything they're playing completely by the rules or wouldn't be allowed into the 3. Liga.
I'm sorry, but it's getting pretty tiresome hearing German football fans complainig about clubs like Hoffenheim and RB, even Wolfsburg, and the money they have - not playing fair, etc. No, let's just have a league composed of the 'traditional' clubs and never allow the smaller ones to live the dream. Keep them in their place!
The truth is that those clubs are breaking no rules, they have and still are investing money in their communities and stadiums and are bringing a little pride to their fans and cities.
Why is that such a problem?
