Tell me one team that has 6 youth team players in their starting eleven. Especially of that quality as all 6 are members of the German (or Austrian) national team.

I think we both agree that Rummenigge and Hoeness are minute-jacks of the highest degree and will use all means nescessary to justify their opinion and assure that the status quo (concerning europe's footy-elite) won't change over night by the hands of some wealthy investors for whom a club is but a means to entertain oneself. (their point of view)

Personally I don't think Sheikh Mansur is that kind of man but honestly... you never know. So I basicallly understand where they're coming from but in the end it's still opportunism since money is money no matter the source. We get it from the Sheikh. They get it from Adidas and Audi. Still they got a point. If one day the Sheikh grows tired of City things could turn majorly wrong for the club. So while we can we should up our commercial revenue and other sources of income as well as build a youth system that ensures a certain amount of homegrown talent able to play at the highest PL level. If we could one day field 3 or more homegrown boys I'd be damn proud.
Bayern's management may not be all that likeable but what they do they do best. There's so much useful knowledge out there to learn and assimilate and clubs that already put it to practical use and bayern are among them. That much should be recognised.

as much as I enyou reading this, could someone please provide this thread with a more appropiate title, such as 'Bayern Munich' or 'Sport1'?

The problem being you judge the Sheikh like he's a Glazer, the reality is he's building us a brand new academy, employing the best people to ensure our revenues go up and has at least a 20 year plan for the club.

That's a far more stable and lucrative investment than either Audi or Adidas can make, but I guess it's alright as Bayern were allowed to grow as they wanted without any UEFA regulation.

Took them what, 9 years to get from winning the CL with a bought squad to losing in a CL final with a handful of homegrown players.

Wish we had that kind of leeway.

Your head honchos said some disgusting, derogatory, and borderline racist (the usual "Arab" stereotype which is like calling all Germans "Nazis") stuff about our club a year ago.

That's where a lot of the recent resentment has come from.

As I said at the time what was actually said and what was printed in the British tabloids was two different things.

2010: Butt(Leverkusen & Hamburg), Lahm(HG), Van Buyten(loads of clubs), Demichelis(River Plate), Badstuber(Stuttgart as a kid), Van Bommel(Countless clubs), Schweinsteiger(HG), Robben(loads of clubs), Altintop(see Robben), Muller(HG), Olic(see Robben). Subs: Rensing(HG), Gorlitz(1860 Munich), Diego Contento(HG), Pranjic(see Robben), Tymoschuk, Klose & Gomez(non-HG).

so that's 5 out of 18 with Germany's fabled youth system, 2 are back-ups and the other they'll claim in Badstuber came from Stuttgart's academy, so was poached. They'll want Kroos added in for 2012 to make it 5 in the starting line-up, but he did come from Hansa Rostock so you know, so much for the fabled Bavarian Bayern academy.

Really they're a club no different to any other top club, just they have the entire German league to poach youngsters from to pass of as their own, so we'll do the same, only difference is we can't buy first teamers like Bayern because their FFPR allows their investors to pay for players but not ours, such a good club.

Er...so we buy players like anyone else ? How is that poaching ffs ? Are you seriously suggesting the entire squad should come through the youth system.
A ridiculous post.

I think the problem I have with Bayern is the hypocrisy of it all. They were the first club to slag City off for buying their success, yet every time Bayern lose out on the title, then it's time to splash the cash, quite often by tempting close rivals in the table with megabucks to weaken them on the field in the process.

That, of course, is actually clever management and it works, but how can Hoeness and Rummenigge have the nerve to criticise other people for 'bullying' clubs into selling players when Bayern have been doing this for many, many years?

A - Well obviously we don't see it as hypocrisy but there is no point in getting into an argument about that, views on both sides are too deeply entrenched.

B - We don't bully clubs, we offer them good money and sometimes they sell, sometimes they don't. This season we wanted a couple of BL players that we didn't get, when Völler told us no re Lars Bender we went elsewhere. That isn't "Bullying" that is having a plan B.
Bayern, like other big clubs, often have to pay over the odds for players.

By the way, Bayern announced plans yesterday to sell further 9 % of their shares for more than 100 million Euro to a yet unknown german investor.

Nothing new there. That was sure to come since the Club's Statute allows for 30% of the "Bayern Muenchen AG" to be sold to investors while 70% have to be held by the club itself. That was decided by their general assambly not too long ago. Could be interesting to see to whom they will sell.

Well, enough with the Bayern talk. As previously hinted this thread is about the Bundesliga and should head back to the topic. Specialy as today is a game day.

I expect Schalke, Dortmund and Bayern to win their games so the top 5 won't change all that much I suppose. Frankfurt did well so far but I simply can't picture them getting a result at the Allianz.

There is another interesting story making the news. Klaus Allofs, Club manager of Werder Bremen seems to be in talks with VfL Wolfsburg and there is a wild speculation, that he and Werder coach Thomas Schaaf could both head to Volkswagen. That would be a hugh blow for Werder, both are working for the club for more than 13 years now.

That would be interesting, but Werder seem to have stagnated in recent years. Maybe Schaaf and co. have taken them as far as they can? They seem to have been missing that little something ever since Diego left.

Diego left prior to the season 09/10. They only played Europa League in this season and Diego has not been the problem in that season - they still had a great attack with Özil, Marin and Pizarro in 09/10 (in that year Marin was still good - not afterwards) - were 3rd at the end of this season to qualify for the CL in 11/12 and lost against Valencia in the final of the last 8. But they lost Özil prior to 10/11, only were 13th in the league without a chance for the CL in 10/11 - and then got rid of some players as there squad was too big for playing Bundesliga only. In the last two years about everybody of their first team of two/three years left the ship - or had to because of the finances.

That is why Bayern has Pizarro back - they probably offered him a new contract with a much lower wage. So he decided to go back to Munich.
