Just out of curiosity, I understood that you adopted Alemannia as your second team, but are you/have you actually been living in Germany or how did your relationship to Aachen develop?

Mainly interested to see how other folks pick their second teams as I picked City as mine due to Rösler joining you lot. Always interesting to hear the storys other people have to tell. :)

I've never actually lived in Germany but adopted Alemennia only a couple of seasons ago after going on a road trip through Germany and taking in a game on the way back.

The team were pretty hopeless at the time (as they are now) but we had a great time on the terraces, the fans were very friendly, the city fantastic and a love affair was born. :)

From this, we have made a few friends in Aachen and I manage to get there a couple of times a year,

Bayern are currently live on Sport 1 playing a benefit game to raise cash for Aachen.

HT 2-1 Bayern....

Actually some really decent and objective view on football violence in German stadia.

Unfortunately its only available in German, but it should be interesting for the likes of Ruhr, Blade etc. at least.

Thanks Bembeltown. Very interesting. Cheers

Bundesliga 2011/ 12 data
Revenues: 2,08 Billion Euros (first time more than 2 billions)

Sponsoring, advertising: 553,17 millions
Media: 546, 19
Ticket sales: 440, 85
Transfers: 209, 82
Merchandising: 93,81
Others: 237,67

14 of the 18 clubs made a profit in that season. For the first time the clubs of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 invested more than 100 million Euros in their youth academies. The costs for players and coaches fell to 37,8 % of the overall revenues (after more than 40 % the season before)

So what are the facts behind the stats Ruhr? That's a hell of a decrease in player/coach costs. Is it that more youth players and cheaper imports are coming in on lower wages/lower fees and the established players (eg Dzeko) have moved on for bigger money? Or is there something else going on?

Like I say, a hell of an achievement as the quality does not appear to have diminished in the process.

haha, had a closer look at the original report, because i found that strange, too. That was some misinterpretation by the paper i read. never trust the press. Sorry for that. It´s not 37 % of overall costs, but of overall revenues, which then simply means that revenues are growing faster than wages of players. (revenues last 4 years +21,4 %, costs for players+coaches last 4 years + 16,1 %)

Cheers! I thought it seemed too good to be true. Was almost phoning the Bundesliga chiefs to see what their secret is! :)

Certainly looks as though it's good times ahead for that league then with that kind of revenue growth.

Forget Lewandowski, Fergie's next target from Dortmund will surely be Blaszczykowski after that dive to win a penalty (which he scored)... defender barely touched him before he threw himself down.

Edit: Mind you, nothing dodgy about his second goal, Gotze is just too good. Dortmund play some sumptuous football, I find it more entertaining than Barca personally as it's more varied and direct.
