Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Arsenal fans will be gutted we won it at all. They would have been hoping we'd slip up like they did v Wolves a few weeks ago. I can't see then winning their last 5 based on their recent performance and their fans know it, they'll be desperate for us to slip up and we haven't tonight.
This. When that last corner was cleared, they’d be very deflated.

A bit of a hangover from Sunday but we got over it without the worst happening.
It will hopefully be the same for arsenal, but theirs is a hangover from defeat.
They have a big recovery job and we’ll see if they are still as mentally fragile as ever.

The win was the most important thing tonight because of the hard game at the weekend against Arsenal
Look fuck Sky Sports and so-called pundits saying we should have had a hat full and Arsenal have been let off tonight.

City won the game. Yes City should have had more goals, but the win is what take us top and its over to you Arsenal
We can ask Arsenal, can you play 3 games in a week ? Champions League could be their downfall at this stage of the season,

I sort of knew tonight would be a hard slog and a struggle, without the Haaland goal it would be a different story right now and the shit hitting the fans

Sky Sports and the so called panel will make it out to be a bad game and City have dropped a bollock hahaha

3 points and a win, well said haaland

On another day 5-2 to City, so much whining across the media , here , this team is ahead of its expected development and in Pep, Bernardo, a recovered Rhodri we trust.

We had a war against Arsenal. Then 3 days later we had another war. This one was harder than expected but you can't expect City to roll over everyone 3-0. We've only just started to get some consistency / form.
???

The rags match is the only one we've lost in the last 20 isn't it, with the exception of the CL matches.

Fair play to Burnley. Were determined not to be humiliated in relegation and gave us a game. Just not good enough to stay up but probably too good to stay down, so adieu until 27-28.

The Champions League will play a major part in Arsenal's run in

Doku is great in big games but his lack of goal threat becomes very apparent in games like this one. Did really well to put Haaland in on goal but 2 tame shots and not a single cross all game when we absolutely dominated possession and territory start to finish, and he wasn’t hugging the touchline either.
That's definitely the next step for Doku.

I wouldn't be against the club going after a world-class winger in the summer, or one who has that potential. I don't watch enough football outside the PL to know who that may be, but perhaps Kvara or Leao want to experience something different.

The Goat has just said something that is absolutely spot on.
Yeah, of course, we were all hoping for a 4-0 or even 5-0. But as he pointed out, the game against Arsenal was a truly testing performance, which will have drained them physically and emotionally. Three days later — just three days after that effort — we get the three points. I don't care that it was Burnley. They knew that what was on the line for them was going out of the PL. Oh and by the way, the game against Burnley at Turf Moor in 2019 was much more squeaky bum time. Also 1-0, but with a goal from Sergio that cleared the goal line by about two centimetres before being kicked away by their defender.

Well, I'm sat here tonight and I'm just looking at that table and I am savouring it. Haven't seen it since last August, didn't really expect to see it again this season, certainly not after West Ham. One pot in the cabinet, semi-final for another trophy, top of the fucking league. Glass two-thirds full. Nice time off from the hurly-burly of the PL. Que sera, sera…

Much in the same way the media thinks we lost 1-2 to arsenal we've also just lost 0-1 to burnley.

Got to remain calm, we got the three points and that's all what matters. Tonight shows that it doesn't always go as expected and the same applies to Arsenal over the next few weeks too.

Well done blues!

Can't remember feeling deflated after a win before. I don't understand why Pep didn't bring on subs with 10 minutes left, and for the life of me I'll never understand why he brings on Savinho when you need a goal.
Who would you suggest bringing on? We were absolutely dominating the last 20 minutes with our best players on.You can’t legislate for piss poor shooting

Some poor defending in the first half and rubbish finishing aside, did what we had to do.

If we'd got a 2nd, pretty sure a 3rd and 4th would've followed, but not to be.
