Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Eze, Odegaard, and Havertz back in the team. Those three are going to create and score lots of goals in these last five games

Ignoring the two games against Spurs, all 3 of those players have a massive 1 league goal each this season.

Arsenal's attack has been woeful for months at this point, getting up for their biggest game in years doesn't change that.

It will never go down to goal difference anyway, both teams will drop points.

Has there ever been a front line that is so feckin incapable of actually getting shots off? In all seriousness, and amazingly skillful as Cherki may look, none of the other forwards have a bloody clue what happens next. In short, there's a touch of the Rodney Marsh signing about Cherki, and you seriously have to ask yourself if we would score more goals
Are you for real? Created at least 5 good chances for his team mates . All squandered.
Some fucking ridiculous comments tonight, be better when the grown ups get back from Burnley and post.

Calling Cherki, fuckinell. Was trying and creating all night.

Disagree. Arsenal are going to finish the season with a much stronger GD+ than us. We've got to hope they drop points.
They could finish with a much stronger goal difference and draw 1 of their games. If we win all our games we would win the league in this scenario.

As long as we keep winning, we will have a chance of the title. Arsenal will be sick tonight looking at our result.

Just back from the game - have a mate who's a Burnley fan so was sat in enemy territory behind the goal Erling potted our goal in.

A laboured performance tbh and Sunday clearly took a lot out of them, which is why I felt Pep maybe should've gone to his bench a bit more. Other thought was Gonzalez blatantly shouldve started that game and gave us more shape/structure when he came on. Whenever we line up without a genuine hold in the formation we always look disjointed.

Thought Cherki again excellent and bar a late corner we never looked like conceding though 1-0 is always precarious. Foden and Marmoush sat on their arses for 90 mins disappointed me a bit, and Semenyo was poor again I thought and may need a rest as he looks like he's dragging a fridge behind him atm. On another night Erling scores a hat-trick, and if Nico had taken than chance inside the final 5 mins it would've been better for my ticker.

Job done but not a game that will live long in the memory. Hoping Pep starts Gonzalez as the hold in our formation at Wembley.

Well, regardless of what it is. We are top of the league and have the momentum going forwards. We weren't even in a title race 4 weeks ago. The fact we have some belief we can win the league is amazing to be honest.
were making them work for it and their smug fans are squirming
if and they should win it the "never in doubt" shouts will be very hollow

Can’t believe the Sky interviewer pissed off both Haaland and Pep. Just won another game to go top, a few days after a massive game against Arsenal, yet she goes on about disappointment of the goal difference.

We may not be completely happy that we didn’t score more, but got to be happy with 3 points.

Typical Sky, wanting drama out of every ounce of ‘their’ entertainment. Well fuck you Sky, this is still sport for many of us and your shit attempts to create controversy can get to fuck.

I wasn't criticising just point out what it is, I agree we have the momentum currently, and tonight certainly won't lose us the title.

Yes the succession of draws, especially Spurs away where we were coasting at 2-0 up, Forest, Brighton and Chelsea at home where we were leading in all games will have done for us. That's eight points we should have won and we'd be on the beach with a cigar now. That's football though, i guess Arsenal can point to similar games too.
Arsenal could say the same about losing games.

It’s over a season, not a few games.

I don't understand how Newcastle are where they are. They have been great every time we have played them this season.

They've fallen off a cliff the last few weeks though. Howe can set up a team to spoil games though so hopefully he does it on Saturday and that big nosed speed merchant Gordon has a blinder on the break and scores a hat trick.

Every chance that only winning 1-0 is gonna bite us on the arse come the end of the season

A huge opportunity missed tonight by our wastefulness

Very hard fought, but deserved win tonight.

Credit to Burnley; they made it very difficult for us, but our quality and determination guided us to the victory we needed.

I think, if truth be told, Sunday really took it out of the players, both mentally and physically, so it probably wasn’t the best time to play, but that’s what success does to the fixture list.

It was a sensible change to bring Nico G. on for RAN,as it allowed NOR to revert to left-back, though he didn’t do anything wrong in midfield.

Onwards and upwards. Let’s look forward to the semifinal against the Saints on Saturday, and hope that we can book another trip to Wembley in May.

He’s out injured
