Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

im over the miss. 84 pages of shite for a draw.the end of the world is nigh, fuck me glad the internet wasn't around when we were shite.my take a dominant performance for 70 mins the miss made them think it was there day and they had a go and it came up trumps.weve played worse and won and better and lost eeessss fooootball

Away on hols at the moment so not seen game
Was it really as bad as the first 5 pages suggest or did we just not finish them off.
Draw against cloggers away from home and no injuries seems like old an ok result to me at this stage in the season all considered....

the stats with and without david silva are amazing, hes missed 12 games since the fa cup semi v arsenal and we have won 50%
with david we have won 30+ lost none and drawn 1,he is a big miss for us.

Don’t post that on a forum! He will become injury target number one!

That is not surprising. He was sublime the other night against West Brom until he went off. He is a genius

Played well albeit a bit wasteful - which happens. Definitely some tired players out there, Walker asleep more than once and got away with it until the goal. No biggie, still 13 points clear with 1 less tough away to play. A few days rest will benefit the squad. I hope Dave is back soon.
Amen to that brother

The one clear cut chance, open goal, we created was the one Stirling missed and that was by getting round the back of their defence. It was our full back who created that . Our two wide men today did not do that once because they are uncomfortable of their "wrong" foot. It is strange because Bernardo prefers playing on the right, he does for his country and Stirling has stated that he prefers the left. The one time Bernardo did spend some time on the left, against Cardiff, he made a goal and Stirling has been creating from the right all season.

Yes, but with Leroys injury I wonder if any mental scars are there, a lot of people do not understand there is a mental aspect to injuries. Imagine if you were running on a field and you got hacked down, it can be a problem, hopefully not. But I hope the kid will be back soon.
Take your point, but I don't think a sprained ankle will give Leroy nightmares. If the thug had broke Leroy's leg, then yes there would be a psychological aspect. He'll be desperate to come back. It's the sort of thing a player would have had strapped up in the 70s and played the next game (unwisely).

I recall that Franny badly sprained his ankle a week or two before the 74 League Cup Final. I remember seeing him on TV doing extra training to run off the pain - running up and down the Kippax. He played in the final - not his greatest game due to the injury. He wouldn't be allowed to play these days.

Win against Leicester next week and this thread will be social media fish and chips paper.

Ederson fantastic.
Gundogan did well.
We need to be more clinical in front of goal.
Still conceding goals. Team needs to tighten up.
6 subs named. Hope we get back to 7 for future matches.

Our issue currently is composure in front of goal. At the beginning of the season i was in awe of our composure in their box. If they crowded a man out he turned and played it back out. I had never really seen that before, players tend to boot it, try run through and go down easy for a pena etc. When players are closer to the 6yrd line, very few have the cool head to turn around and play it back out from there but we were doing unless we had a clear site of goal.

Today Gundogan was guilty twice at least of not making the correct move in or around their box. Sterling was well open twice and he must pass to him in such circumstances. I am in no doubt Silva would have made the simple pass and not had had a go on goal with two blokes blocking the balls route.

I am not singling Gundogan out here, it is becoming a theme around the oppo's box. It just happens today that he was guilty of it and i noticed it. He was very good beyond these few moments, they were imo vital moments though.

Whatever kept us calm and happy to recycle the ball even from inside their box we need back

Not at all. I think a fan of a football club should at least go to the effort of learning the names of the players he or she proclaims to support, especially if he or she has the nerve to criticise them.
Wind your neck in, there are numerous spellings of Sterling on this thread alone.....predictive text goes mental with his name.....nothing to do with 'learning' a players name as you would know If you engaged your brain before gobbing off like a mard arse. Are you his mother?

Our inability to capitalise in the clear goalscoring chances we made were our undoing. Ok we didn’t lose, but no point having 70%+ possession and dominating a game, to come away with a point because we can’t put the ball away or choose the easy pass instead of trying to walk the ball into the goal.
Gundy, Kun and Razza just made some really poor decisions. Time to get a short rest and prepare for Leicester. .

If we'd had 7 subs we would've won.....pep out dyche in! Always said Pep was shite, only 13 points clear at the beginning of February is a disgrace.

Just watched the motd highlights and during pep’s interview it was noted about his cough. This is something I have noticed in a lot of his post match interviews and has been the case for over a year now. I am surprised it has not been picked up before, I think it is indicative of how much he puts into each game physically and emotionally. It is a bit of a concern, we want him to serve us for a long time, if he burns himself out it does not do anyone any good (except for the opposition!)

Hart - loved by all, but we had to move on.

zabba - fav player, bleeds blue, legs went, moved on.

Yaya - big game player, semi, final. Men against kids. Served so well, but age and pace got best of him, we move on.

Now controversial bit, and not a reaction to today....

Aguero, love him, history maker in every sense, perfect in the 18yrd box, however, lost a yard of pace, and not as effective outside the 18yrd box.

Never ever thought I would say it, although though it for several months, time to cash in. It’s like that best car you ever had, will never be replaced but has just got outdated...I really love him, however....... Times approaching....

I think Sergio evokes such emotive feelings because of THAT goal and hes our leading scorer and an true icon. Some on here constructively criticise him, others won't have any criticism. For me, I'd hate to see him leave but it's clear he's not the player he was, yet he's got 24 goals. His game relies on a burst of pace to find space off 2-3 defenders then get the shot away but he doesn't have that electric burst anymore. Too often he runs into defenders and loses possession when a pass is on to someone with space. On the flip side, he's still deadly when the balls played beyond the last defender and he has space to pick his spot like weds night. What to do with Sergio? I wouldn't sell him. No way, he's still got goals in him. Maybe next season he'll be used as a sub more, not a bad sub to have really. I'm wondering if the heel injury is affecting him more than we realise this season? Who knows....
