The reason Pep plays Grealish is for the control he brings to our game, and Pep's football is all about control. Grealish rarely gives the ball away and progresses it forwards. For now that's enough, others can do the damage when they get it from him. Without Grealish we are more prone to losing the ball sooner in the build up and therefore more vulnerable to the counter attack. I agree with Pep, Grealish justifies his place in this team.

Does he though if it means shoehorning a better player, Foden, in as a false 9 ?

He may publicly back players he’s not happy with but he wouldn’t pick them regularly, and he picks Grealish regularly.

If he unhappy with player, he will freeze him and will never him play regularly. Pep only cares and happy if the player did certain things right in his scheme, as long Grealish did the right thing even his G/A is abysmal he really didn't care as long his contribution helps win the game.

Pep thinks Foden playing F9 is the best possible situation even if he did better in other position.

Comfortable win with no threat at all from Burnley. Should have made a dent in the goal difference discrepancy in the second half but missed too many chances.

Really good, assured performance which was about as stress free as it comes. Great to see Raz putting in a high level performance and Ake again excellent.

No poor performances (everyone did their bit if not all spectacular) and Pep even made a couple of well timed subs.

Ticks another one off and onto Tuesday, onwards and upwards blues.

a very strange day for me.
i haven't seen the game. my total miss for what must be 30+ years . i used to go to every game until recently when i have done a mix of tv and home games .
due to covid i had no staff so I had no option but to open up the shop myself .
annoying that my tickets were unused .
sounds a good win and another 3 points in the bag.

Bring on the scousers who will at least have a go and make it an entertaining game. That was boring today even though we won at a canter, Burnley need to go down a division and change their style of play, fucking dire outfit. Hopefully we'll up the tempo on Tuesday because we'll actually need to.
