Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Pep has to manage the season though and his priority will have been to see out the game with as little fuss as possible whilst conserving as much energy as possible.
I know what you’re saying but that’s basically just us fans point of view. I think entertaining the crowd is quite low on the priority list and I can accept that.
We are fortunate that we are still entertained far more often than not.
Low on the priority list? I thought we were the paying customer!! , but always second fiddle. Lol

Aside from the fact that about 50000 fans wanted to see more goals and some entertaining football.
Personally I'd much prefer the players to reserve energy going into the business end of the season and lifting silverware rather than tonking a piss poor Burnley team.

Plus we had to take into consideration, Nunes got minutes, KDB got his first start since Burnley away along with Haaland being back.

Shout out to Ederson barging in to protect Lewis - though thought Rico was holding his own!
Not sure what it is about Lewis, he seems to get knocked about both on and off the ball. Huddersfield recent and last night. I do wonder if it’s deliberate

Don’t like the way some players are targeting Lewis for some roughhouse treatment. Last night and Huddersfield to mention just two.

We did win the game but Goals could come into play at the end of the season, I think if we upped the tempo of the game we could have scored 6 or 7 and still have something in the bank for a later game
It's not as though a team has ever won the PL on goal difference is it? Or gone into the final game knowing a draw will probably be OK as they're two points ahead with a much better goal difference. Oh no, that could never happen.

A piss poor Burnley team is one of those that we can give a tonking to.

The game was finished after 15 minutes or so and I kind of new it would be a bit flat after that. There's not a lot to say other than if we'd have needed to, they were there for their usual hammering. Part of me thinks that it would have been good to get up the GD numbers a bit but in all honesty it won't matter at the end of the season I don't think. It's either us or Liverpool and I think the games in March between us, Liverpool and Arsenal will seal the title.

As for Burnley, they will go down. I was expecting to see something from Kompany to at least suggest he's going to improve them when they come back up as Champions but they looked so flat to me. Other than the thug who tried it on with Lewis and Stones they had no fight in them at all. Fofana looked decent when he came on but really, Kompany is on a hiding to nothing there. He needs to leave them if he gets the chance because it's an impossible job.

Good to see Haaland back, but a proper rusty return! On another day he'd have had a hat trick. Nunes had a good game and probably the best he's had for us really.

Overall, a pretty routine and boring 3-1 win. The only shock was that we didn't get 6.
