Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Everything was strange about the game last, I can not put my finger on it but it felt like both teams played out a premier league game like it was a pre-season friendly, almost to the point of shaking hands on the result before the kickoff.

I know it's Kompany's Burnley but should we not be taking them to the cleaners and trying to score 7 or 8 or more.
Look we all Know goal difference could play a major part at the end of the season, so respecting Kompany is one thing but we have to make 100% sure we are fair and treat Burnley like all the other teams,

Most of the fans and crowd were so not at the game but on their phones or at the bar, Pep always talks about the atmosphere at home games, Well sorry Pep even the City fans could not get behind the team tonight because it was or felt like a meanless games,

Are Manchester City that good of a team and sitting top of the table with 10 points in front of Liverpool, So playing with Burnley like a kitten with a ball of wool could come back to bite us on the arse later on in the season.
Thought we played quite well but was an opportunity lost on GD. Especially as the Dippers played Chelsea and increased their GD even missing a penalty

All important three points, very god first half performance with a couple of good goals nice and early to settle us down. It was great to see us start the second half on the front foot very disappointing that we didn't push on from there. It all felt a little bland after Rodri's shot, some nice little bits of movement but the final ball or final bit of ball control let us down.
I agree, the second half was dissapointingly dull. The team should have gone for it.

I don’t think Pep is going to do that to Vinny to be honest. It was clear we took the foot off the gas at 3-0.
I don't think it's just because it was Vinny, We dished Vinny a 6-0 hiding in a cup game.

It's always this time of year we are able to go through the gears. We had the game done at HT and took our foot off the gas which happens quite alot and rightly so. Absolutely zero need to go all guns blazing the second half.

Aside from the fact that about 50000 fans wanted to see more goals and some entertaining football.

See that is wrong in my book, Once you cross the white line it's game on, Win at all costs for the good of Manchester City and if that means beating Kompany and Burnley by 6 or 7 then go out and do it,

Will last night's stroll in the park for City save Burnley from the drop? sadly I don't think it will, But could it coast Manchester City the title when Goals could come into play

I think City took the foot off the gas because it was Kompany's Burnley and he is under pressure and nothing else

No Premier League game should treated like that or any differently at this stage of the season because other teams are also in the fight to stay up, Kompany or anybody else manager should get the same treatment.
Manchester City comes first and it ends once you leave and become a manager at any other club

Going off some of the comments on here you'd think we lost!!!

Game was done by halftime.

Second half was game management and giving players coming back from injury game time and giving other players who don't play week in week out minutes.

How can this be a surprise to people as Pep does this almost every year.

From now until the end of the season we'll be playing at least twice a week and Pep is getting the squad battle hardened for the months ahead.

This is the reason we are so fucking good in the run in

The bigger picture could be goal difference, Yes I understand the players coming back to match fitness and the risk of pushing them hard for every game could force more injuries and longer spells on the sidelines, But the truth last night was nothing about that or risking players, We had so much in the tank that even upping just to one more level would have helped our goal difference by 3 or 4 with Haaland still on the bench.

It was just down to respecting Kompany and Burnley from a rugby score if truth be told

We will hit our stride in another couple of games time I feel. It always takes us a few games after a break to get into a rhythm, and it's showed these last two games where we've nowhere near been at our best

It won't come down to goal difference.

We'll win the league by at least 5 points

Pep has to manage the season though and his priority will have been to see out the game with as little fuss as possible whilst conserving as much energy as possible.
I know what you’re saying but that’s basically just us fans point of view. I think entertaining the crowd is quite low on the priority list and I can accept that.
We are fortunate that we are still entertained far more often than not.
