Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

What a daft post. He was brought as a back-up to Rodri and you won't get a better one than Gonzalez.

Not a panic buy and very much a decent player.

There are certainly far better back ups out there than Gonzalez. We have him for now and time will tell whether he is good enough or I am right about him being a panic buy.

Not too long back in the hotel. Whoever put up them signs saying a 10 minute walk back to Piccadilly is taking the piss.

It was a strange game. For the first hour, up to the Nunes goal, we were very meh, in my opinion. That goal seemed to release the shackles, though. And we ended up comfortable winners. Glad to see Walker didn't get too much stick.

A hard sluggish game that needed winning with heart and willpower. It felt like City players had heavy legs after a hard couple of weeks for 3 games a week, The win is all that matters and 3 points after the dipper lost is always a good weekend,

Still a long way to go, But City and Pep could be on again towards building something special here with the 2nd coming. It's a very young squad and there will be ups and downs but the future looks good,

How can Haaland bag a brace at the end when he was not at the races today ? Haaland is something special and made to break records at Manchester City, He's some talent playing for us

The club seems to disagree with you about Savinho, apparently he’s not far off agreeing a contract extension.
Pep sees things in players that us fans on BM and FB don't. It's partly why he's the greatest footy coach of all time with us social media bods posting messages and opinions on websites. Those that can, do - those that can't, talk about it.

First up, great result, I'm not sure many Blues will argue with that before getting into the intricacies of this, that and the other.

We definitely saw bits of last season in that win, as well as some of the new promise from various players. The 7 or 8 mins up to the goal, and the 7 or 8 after, were clearly the weakest period of our performance today. The soft centre and chaotic full back situations that plagued late 2024 suddenly reared their heads again. Sports psychology is fascinating, as suddenly Gonzalez couldn't find a pass, Dias went brittle, Reijnders literally disappeared, Oreilly looked like a nervous new kid and all of Savinho's drive dissipated. The half time was welcome as we settled again and began to find positivity after the hour.

But as Liverpool get some credit for winning while being average (not today!!!), we equally deserve credit for panning a side while not being our best.

Up the Blues, great result, keep working on the mindset.

really severely at fault? More than O'reilly? Be serious..
Nunes has to press their player and stop the cross mate. He wanders across and then halfheartedly dangles a leg out. That’s just basics. I can absolutely guarantee you he’ll have had the bollocking of this life at half time for it. That cross doesn’t come in, the rest of it doesn’t happen.

I look at it differently. The Matchday Thread is a bit of fun. Some people do vent when things aren't going well, however when I had my season ticket up to 3 years ago I'd hear some strange stuff from matchday Blues as well. As for your comment about people bemoaning the takeover - God only knows where you get that from on the Matchday Thread.
I have the same take on it.

I think a few people (myself included) in the heat of the moment make comments which could possibly be worded better or they wouldn’t post outside of the game as the passion isn’t as intense as it is in the moment.
But it’s a bit of fun where you can vent.

To my recollection I’ve only seen one comment which was anti the owned which told them to ‘get out of our club’.
I get heat of the moment, but there’s no excuse for that.
The owners saved the club from financial catastrophe and gave us memories and moments any fan would love to have.

Other than that I’ve not come across any fans which are anti the owners.
