First up, great result, I'm not sure many Blues will argue with that before getting into the intricacies of this, that and the other.
We definitely saw bits of last season in that win, as well as some of the new promise from various players. The 7 or 8 mins up to the goal, and the 7 or 8 after, were clearly the weakest period of our performance today. The soft centre and chaotic full back situations that plagued late 2024 suddenly reared their heads again. Sports psychology is fascinating, as suddenly Gonzalez couldn't find a pass, Dias went brittle, Reijnders literally disappeared, Oreilly looked like a nervous new kid and all of Savinho's drive dissipated. The half time was welcome as we settled again and began to find positivity after the hour.
But as Liverpool get some credit for winning while being average (not today!!!), we equally deserve credit for panning a side while not being our best.
Up the Blues, great result, keep working on the mindset.
