Welcome to Turf Moor.
Information to share with Man City Supporters Group ahead of the upcoming fixture.
Man City Fan Zone
Burnley FC will be placing a marquee on the Harry Potts Way Car Park, next to the away turnstiles as a dedicated fan zone for Man City supporters. This will be open at 2:30pm, 3 hours ahead of kick off and will be serving alcohol and food at £3.00 a pint and reasonably priced food from a dedicated food outlet next to the marque.
We also have a projector and screen showing the Man City season 13/14 review as well as Sky Sports News.
In addition, the turnstiles and concourse area will be open 2 hours prior to kick off also serving food and drink at the same prices as the marque.
There will also be an inflatable football target challenge located at the far end of the away concourse area inside the stadium for supporters to test their shooting skills.
Burnley Football Club want to welcome Man City to our humble, but friendly stadium and give you a positive day out.

The stupidity of Lancashire Constabulary's rules for away fans never ceases to amaze me. They were over the top last year for the Blackburn FAC game where there has never to my knowledge been any history of bad feeling between fans. Escorting coaches to the ground that day was completely unnecessary IMO and with it being an early KO prevented many of us from having a few pre-match pints in Blackburn or anywhere else.

Again, for the Burnley game they are escorting away coaches from the M65 to the ground (and return afterwards) with the rule that coaches must not arrive before 90 mins prior to kick-off. No doubt to attempt to again restrict drinking time for fans. They have also told coach operators that they must not stop en route for any refereshments where alcohol is available. Surely this is an infringement on civil liberties ? Why shouldn't any pub landlord en route to Burnley be able to earn a living out of a coach load of well behaved adults who happen to be going to a football match ?

On the other hand though, Burnley are now allowed to open a marquee bar 3 hrs prior to kick-off and I assume with the blessing of said Lancashire Constabulary. What a load of nonsense - yes, we can have a load of ale outside the ground from 2.30pm onwards but not, it seems, a couple of pints in a pub miles away from Burnley.

It's about time that the authorities grasped that this is 2015, not the 1980's. In my experience the great majority of football fans have moved on.

The "suicide squad" drink mainly in the Foresters pub, near the ground, all are banned from the game, but still cause "mischief" on match day. Your normal Joe Soap is sound, they only hate Blackburn not us.

Treat the trip like it was 20 years ago and everyone will be fine. Last time I heard of anything really bad was about 5 years ago when a Forest fan was murdered, after it kicked off in the town centre.

Pub wise there is a Spoons, and the posh Spoons (Lloyds) in the town centre. A great boozer tucked away from the centre called "The Bridge" it has loads of different ales on hand pump is worth checking out, as is the "Swan Inn".

Time flies - it was 2002. The culprit was from Burnley but didn't support them. He actually had a season ticket at another club.

As for my own plans, train to Hebden Bridge and a couple of hours there before making my way to Burnley - will probably pitch up in the cricket club that no-one else wants to go to.

That club was MCFC if i remember right. Guy nicknamed "Suicity"

That's the one. Bumped into him once - on Wilmslow Road after we beat United in the last Maine Road derby so just a few weeks before the tragic incident against Forest. He was acting all 10 men when I saw him yet was only about 7 stone wet through.

Plenty of other transport options to Burnley for under a tenner, I doubt too many will bother with coaches.

Leeds fans smashed up the Wetherspoons in Blackburn a few months ago, they are right to be wary of big crowds. City fans smashed up the train back from Blackburn to Victoria after the FA Cup defeat also no so long ago.

That Blackburn game was years ago - the 6th round under Psycho ? There's been no problem since then as far as I can recall.
Anyway, my point was as you say - plenty of other travel options so why have such a stupid rule for coaches ?

My understanding for coaches is that they cannot stop in a ten mile radius of the ground without permission and it has to be a pub that serves food.

Outside of that you are ok

Looks like anyone having more than a few pints or dares to piss in a sink is fucked ;)

Burnley Football Club welcome the supporters of Manchester City to Turf Moor on Saturday 14th March 2015. We are a family club and pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and an enjoyable atmosphere.
We have created a 'Fan Zone' exclusively for Manchester City fans in the Harry Pott's Car Park, next to where the coaches drop off, where you can meet with fellow supporters and watch chosen MCFC highlights on TV before entering the stand.
Both Clubs are working together to make this match the best experience it can be for all supporters. In order to do this, we take steps to stop those who may spoil such an enjoyable atmosphere from entering the ground. Burnley F.C. will inform Manchester City of the details of any person who is arrested, refused entry through drunkenness or ejected for any reason. Manchester City's Safety Team will then have the option of taking action against the individual.
Both clubs ask for your co-operation both in and around the local community, that you are respectful of the surrounding residential areas and behave in an appropriate manner. Drinking is not allowed in public areas and we ask that you drink sensibly prior to entering Turf Moor. Lancashire Police will be in the town centre and around the stadium throughout the day. Any supporter without a valid match ticket is advised not to travel.
For those of you travelling by car, there is a large car park at Towneley Park, Todmorden Road, BB1 3RQ. There will be a small cost for this council run car park. The Park is about a 5-10 minute walk away from the ground. Other car parks and directions to the ground can be obtained from http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/club/directions.
There are 8 automatic visiting supporter turnstiles at the David Fishwick stand. Please present the barcode facing up and then push the turnstile once the 'Enter' message appears.
With 4,000 supporters entering these 8 turnstiles, we strongly recommend that you arrive with time to spare to ensure that you can get through the security cordons, searches and turnstiles before kick-off. The use of pyrotechnics, flares and smoke bombs are strictly prohibited.
Please respect and co-operate with the Burnley stewards at this time. Any supporter identified as being drunk prior to entering or behaves inappropriately within the stadium will not be allowed to watch the match.
Please ensure that you have the correct ticket as there will be no upgrades and you may not be able to enter the stadium. Supporters with concessionary tickets may be asked to provide ID upon request.
Inside the concourse, there will be bars and kiosks open pre-match. At half time, the kiosks will sell the local pies and other snacks but the bars will be closed.
We look forward to seeing you at Turf Moor on Saturday.
The Safety Team
Burnley Football Club

Do the police not realise all this bollocks of escorting fans etc only adds to the needle of potential trouble that might not even exist?

Fuck them, we will be in town from midday.

No more than any other away game, the rules are the same all over

Perhaps after Villa the authorities may be a bit more on top. Why I do not know but we ourselves can go OTT when it comes to talking about games before they happen

To be fair there were more than a few City fans that had drunk more than they could cope with before our 5.30pm ko at Villa. A few in front of me at the turnstiles were turned away as they were having difficulty standing up. Then there were City fans fighting among themselves.
