Buy British! City target Barkley, Shaw and Lascelles

Stories like this are just pure speculation (rubbish).

Anyone who can write "Alex Nimely may be tempted to move with the likes of Sergio Aguero ahead of him", and "Rodwell has struggled to displace stars like Vincent Kompany since moving from Everton" really are playing at being proper journalists

Haha, can't believe any tabloid could seriously employ someone to write shit like that. Must give them credit for remembering Nimely exists though, I'd completely forgotten about him.

Makes me laugh 'Rodwell has stuggled to displace stars like Vincent Kompany'
WTF!!! Being a midfielder and Kompany a CD I dont think Rodwell will ever displace Kompany or any other defender for that matter.

I'm not sure the homegrown thing is as big a problem as some think. If I understand correctly the rule is in a squad of 25 then 8 need to be either homegrown or under 21.
Hart
one or both back up keepers
Richards or his replacement
Nastasic U21
Clichy
Zucculini U21 if in squad
Milner
Lopes
Rekik

Thats 10 who would qualify and could be in the squad next year, they probaby won't all be but 7 or 8 should be.

For the league we're allowed 17 non home-grown players, at the moment we have 15, so without outgoings we can only sign 2 players who aren't HG or U21.

A bigger problem perhaps is for the Champs League U21's have to have been registered for over 2 years, so Zuculini would count a 16th non home-grown. Same number as this season, since Nastasic didn't count as U21 this season, but will next season.

If Zuculini is in the CL squad we only have space for 1 more new player who isn't HG. If he isn't we still only have space for 2. Any more players signed would have to count as homegrown or we'd have to get rid of a non-HG player to make space.

If we sign a HG player it means we strengthen the squad and can still sign 2 non HG players.

Nastasic counts as over 21 next season, becoming our 16th non-homegrown player. So we can only buy 1 more without selling people, and that's for premier league, 0 more for champs league if zuculini is in the squad, but I havnt seen much of him so don't know if he's good enough to be taking an important non homegrown spot next season

personally i would bring back Gareth Barry and let Rodwell go, there is no way that we should have let him go to Everton.

Not really. He works well when there are 2 midfielders doing the running work. He is going to be a horrible misfit in the system Pellegrini plays.

As strange as it sounds, because he only turned 21 this year, he will actually count as Under 21 next season. It's if the player is under 21 at the start of the year in which the season commences.

Anything I've ever read about us meeting the homegrown rule says Nastasic counts as over 21

For the last 2 seasons he's counted as over 21 for the Champions League, but next season he'll count as under 21 for all competitions

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/features/home-grown-quota-for-premier-league.html

Clubs are able to supplement their squads with unlimited additional players under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences.

But he'll never count as homegrown, the season after next he'll have to be included as a full, non-HG player.
