BWSL 2022/23 Aston VIlla vs Manchester City

Surely Taylor won’t see out this season yes it’s only started but I can see this team missing out on champions league and possibly finishing just above mid table with the number players who have moved to other clubs ..
If they're going to take the women's game seriously, they'll need to put a decent manager in place, not a no mark like Taylor.

Only Hemp out of our supposed Lioness heroines looks bothered. Alex and Chloe look disinterested. Defence all over the place and we only have one midfielder trying to play. This shows me there are several players who don't want Taylor to be the manager. A shocking start.

Anyone who’s talked informally to our players in the Northern Quarter since Taylor was appointed will tell you he’s neither liked or respected. The mass exodus of players was partly down to him… the club backed Taylor over the players….

Walsh going was a complete body blow.

Couldn‘t have come as a suprise…. When Bronze went to Lyon - Walsh slapped in a transfer request…. We then orchestrated a situation that saw Bronze go to Barcelona. So Walsh asking to go was oh so predictable!

Something hasnt been right about the womens team for a good 5 years now, how come Chelsea and Arsenal manage to keep their best players including the likes of Kerr, Harder and Miedema but as soon as we have a half decent player they are off to Madrid/Lyon/Barca/Bayern, going all the way back to Christiansen, Parris and Duggan. Bronze has left us twice. Sure they dont all work out abroad, but still, its the principle. I cant see Hemp and Kelly hanging around judging by our recent past.
Until we can start hanging on to our best players and investing like Chelsea did with their forwards, then we will always be third best.

This is what happens when you let so many quality players go. Its got shades of Swales and Allison in the late 70s but at least Allison was respected. City's men's team have been very good at keeping people happy. They want to stay. Bernardo and his partner may want sunnier climes but he's stayed 5 years. Chelsea and Arsenal women's players don't leave in their droves like this. If they haven't already asked the question they should be asking why so many wanted to go? If it is the manager then the club needs to consider his position at the very least. If we are going to get back to being serious about Women's football at City we need to keep our best players and recruit the best.
