Amazing. Yet you rate Carroll.
carroll really is untried, he's also also not leading the line for a team trying to qualify for a uefa spot, that said he's better than phil, sorry but true.
Untried, yeh because phil has had loads of time to adapt to te prem.
So if carroll was leading our line imagine what he would be like, and imagine how good cass would be leading newcastle.
You have just summed upwhy we should giv phil credit, because he is "leading the line for a team trying to qualify for a uefa spot" at the age of 20 and has managed to score 7 goals. Bring on the donkeys if this is what they promise to do!

Offers a physical presence that no one else can, he DID win headers just no runners off him, he held it up and scored a goal. FFS what more does everyone want from him, he's only 20 and has plenty of talent. We play better with him in the team and he has a good goals to games ratio, get off his back and support him!!

won headers? he can't fucking jump to save his life.

Well I counted on at least two occasions him flicking the ball on and nobody making a run off him. Therefore he may aswell not bother jumping.

'at least two occcasions he jumped'

he other 15 times he didn't he fell over or give a freekick away.

If you could read it clearly says 'at least two occasions he flicked the ball on', not just jumped.

You clearly are looking at all the negatives in him than positive. Numpty.

If he is untried for Newcastle who are threatened with relegation then doesn't that speak volumes given that crock (Owen) and Martins (doesn't score often) are playing ahead of him?

The aim of each side in particular is irrelevant, we are discussing the standard of each player and drawing comparisons - not the two sides on the whole and both players are not soley responsible for the direction of each club they represent. The only way I could admit that he is better than Big Phil is Andy Carroll actively being here (and this'd happen if Hughes deemed him any better than Big Phil) and getting more than 7 goals in a game. A striker is there to stick the ball in the back of the net at the end of the day. If you want work rate, try Vass but he won't score for you.

If you actually deem Andy Carroll worthy of a summer move to Manchester City make that admission in response to this thread.
we wont be buying the likes of andy carroll, neither will we be keeping big phil.

the moment that summed up Big Phil for me today was when Micah (i think...) broke past their full back in the first half and Phil did not even break out from his jog to get in the box.

it was what a centre forward lives for and he couldn't even be arsed to sprint.

Vassell, Benjani, Evans, Sturridge (of his own accord) will all leave before him I expect.

Phil's got a fair bit to his game but he needs to become more aggressive. I don't think he's shit, but he's not great. He's got good feet and a decent shot, but the brain isn't quite there yet. He'll get better but sadly not with us.

One of many topics today, but my basic view on caicedo (not having a pop by any means) is that the lad is young yes and he still has a lot to learn but he hasn't looked the greatest really. I think he is a great finisher and a top quality player in the box no doubt about it, he also has the potential to be a drogba/goater type player considering he's young and he's shown he can score. I think his negatives are that he looks like he can't really be bothered and he doesn't look like he's putting that much effort in. I think if he got on with the fitness tewam and got a bit of pace about him he will be quality and he needs to grow up and maybe mature a bit on the football field, if you get me.
I do, however, think that people have been to quick to get on his back, like normal. This may be the reason that city never get a really talented player from a young age. A player like John Obi Mikel, Ronaldo (Tin hat, but needed to be included), Fabregas or Arjen Robben. We judge to quickly and are happy enough to start slating players after only seeing bits of them.

sorry, this is why city never bring through talented players,
ireland, swp, johnson, onouha, sturridge, barnes, owen, caton, reid, clive wilson, hart, barrett, to name but a few
ot world class but, not bad for a team that had no money and hadnt won anything for years

People don't understand how difficult a role it is up front on your own that is the problem here, if you take into account he is barely 20 in a new league and country he is doing pretty fucking good.

just a question, who would start him ahead of the boj?

Me, I don't think Boj did anything special in that game and I think his reputation is built on 2 years worth of hype. Boji may prove me wrong though, I just see no reason why people put him ahead of Caic when he hasn't scored a competitive goal.
boj?2yrs of hype? no.2yrs of injury.

Fair do's, 2 years of injury - question, will he genuinly ever recover from two injuries so serious?

By the way Bill, if Phil couldn't play then he wouldn't have became a professional football player and he would not have scored 7 goals in the premier league. Hell, another nine and he would be joint premier league goalscorer!
