Callum Doyle

Natural step up for him. Might be in danger of having a loan actually go well for us. As long as he's been told he will get opportunities to claim a starting spot it's a good move. 1 or even 2 years at what should be the higher end of the championship could leave him with an excellent level of experience and he'd still be a teenager. Promising.

Read back through the thread, you'll find it.
I think the opinion was that a loan to a League One where he played most games would be more beneficial than a Championship loan where he was struggling for game time. Hopefully he will be a regular starter for Coventry but loans can be tricky.

For example Morgan Rogers did well at Lincoln in League One but struggled for game time at Bournemouth.

I will be happy if next May you dig out this thread and tell me I know nothing about football after Callum has starred for Cov.

hoping Coventry are more settled than a few years back

Well they'd be wrong to say you're wrong because you're not wrong. No one knows ahead of time how the loan will work out, personally speaking I think he'll walk it. But I could be wrong.

Non playing substitute for Coventry against Sunderland today.

Cov reportedly played a 3-5-1-1 formation so maybe he will get chances as there are three centre half spots.

It will be a case of getting used to his new surroundings initially, but he then needs to ensure he has cemented a spot.

Big season for the kid.....he has league experience now and is continuing to develop physically,he needs to push on.

I am hoping his quality on the ball will help him get a starting spot. If a team plays with three centre backs then I think at least one needs to be able to have the ability to carry the ball and pass forward well.

Came on as a sub at weekend apparently, any one have any more on his performance? or why he isnt starting?

Edit.He played 25 mins apparently.

Very interesting and varied comments from his Sunderland time here......

In summary,he did well at the start, although obviously lacked experience and mobility, but by late 2021 he was burnt out,due to the previous manager flogging him to death, and his form and confidence dropped hugely. The majority believe he has a good career ahead of him and recognise he was just a boy in a man's world, they would have had him back on loan no problem.Other dickheads.....not so forgiving.

Hopefully the invaluable experience of all that will be very useful at Coventry.

A few days after signing Doyle on loan Coventry signed Jonathan Panzo on loan from Forest, and he plays in the same position as Doyle but is a few years older. Manager seems to have gone with Panzo in the first few games
