Can Anyone Explain the last 10 Minutes Tactics?

I managed to see only the last 6 minutes. Thought they'll score from that last free kick. First stupid offside from Jesus and next needless foul by Vinnie.

It was stupid.

They are a team who just smash it long at every opportunity so there was no point in slowing it down so we could get our formation in place to stop them passing it out from the back.

They never pass it out from the back.

So we were losing it and they were going long and completely by passing our press.

It was very strange by us!
Was just about to post the same.

I said in the match thread (likely more times than I should have, but I was trying to de-stress a bit) that it was a very dangerous game to play, especially given Burnley’s tactics from the off.

I am obviously glad it came off. But it is worth noting that late free kick could have gone very differently and we would be walking away with only a point, sitting behind Liverpool praying for them to **** up, all because we continually decided not to attack and just protect the narrow sliver of a lead we had, in complete conflict with our normal tactics and instincts.

It would have been a perfect Typical City moment had Burnley scored on that set piece or from a long ball. Then again, perhaps the fact that it worked means Typical City really is done.

At any rate, it worked, we won, and we’re now three finals from the historic domestic treble.

Onward and upward!

Never seen anything like it.
Heart attack material. Lol!.
Thanks Pep. :-/

Numerous chances to break away and to score, only for the players to stop dead, stand still, walk with the ball, and to pass the ball back and forth between themselves. I've seen game management before, but nothing ever like that. Pep you crazy f***ing genius of a Manager, but please don't put me or other City fans through that again.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and it was fuckin delicious today :-) Pep knows best ...

Young lad next to me at the match said the same. Told him you can’t win 5 nil every week, some games you’ve just got to get over the line

I thought that last freekick we had was daft to lob it in,the one time i wanted them to pass it back they didn't,chucking on john and nico was smart though
I was screaming at that one. Straight to tget keeper and straight back up against us. Thought the obvious ball was back to Eddie or even work it to the corners. But all turned out nice :)

We've definitely done it before. Maybe more like last 5 minutes though, and usually against much better opponents.
