Can Steven Gerrard be classed as a domestic failure?

Better than Toure?

Yes. I think if Gerrard was in our side between 2010 and 2018 we would have won more including the champions league.

And that is coming from someone who believes Yaya is the greatest player to play for this club.

Gerrard better than Yaya? Good grief man.

Gerrard was a good player who mastered the art of running around a lot and kicking a football very hard.

He had no tactical nous during a game and was often running around like a headless chicken, constantly found to be out of position trying to do everything.

Xabi Alonso made Gerrard look better than he actually was.

Gerrand was half decent and looked better than he was in a wank team, bit of a kinkladze type, good and better than his teammates but not as good as you think if being rationale.

Yaya was a class above

This is one of those tribalistic football opinions that comes from someone’s arse.

Liverpool were consistently in the top 4 because of him.

Gerrard retired in 2016 after one season for LA Galaxy. His legs were gone and he was more prone to making more of the daft back pass mistakes whilst playing in deeper positions, for Liverpool and England.

Between 2011 and 2014 we won four trophies. Yaya scored in both cup finals and was a key part of the two league titles.

Maybe his European experience would have given us something extra in the CL but Bayern, Real and Barcelona were outstanding winners. We would have been unlikely to beat any of those teams just by adding SG. An extra Europa League trophy, possibly?

in reality, it's rather bogus points scoring to diminish his domestic achievements in a mediocre Dipper side when he pretty much single-handedly perpetrated one of the biggest thefts in football history in Istanbul to steal a CL win, which he deserves kudos for.

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... course.

Well yes that's why it would appear the op chose to use "domestic" to deliberately exclude Istanbul.

The answer to the op is no, of course not.

Take Phil out of the team, we still have most of those trophies. Take out Gerrard from Liverpool, at least no Istanbul no West Ham FA Cup Final.
