Can we afford to let Barry go?

I understand that last comment completely now.

If any of this was fact we would have had 18 teams in for barry as everyone knows he is available

strange then that Neverton are the only club who are in for this great team player and they don't actually want to buy him

seems that most managers in the premiership disagree with your glowing write up of Barry but what do they know ? posters within this forum know how to spot a good player even if 17 Premiership managers disagree

Barry is a very poor passer of the ball and one of the slowest players in the premiership and its time the deluded few bluemoon posters faced these facts[/quote]
Good shout. Thanks and al the best Barry, shame about the cup final but you played your part in a couple of trophies. Good luck at Everton.

Barry will not be missed by me.

If it was Milner i'd be kicking up a fucking storm.

Barry was never the player I thought we had bought from Villa.

I am less than happy about this, not least because it probably facilitates a Fellani to the Swamp and whilst that's a bad buy, I was enjoying the rag meltdown about signing no twat whatsoever.

Have to be pretty quick doing the medical. Window supposedly closes in 5 minutes

WIll be sad to see him leave but maybe it´s for the best. The club gets a high-earner of the books and Gareth gets to play regularly. Don´t think Pellegrini fancied him neither, we do have Rodwell, Milner, Garcia, Yaya and Fern, that´s a very solid MF.

What exactly were you expecting from him?

Sure he has his limitations (I think most knew that when he signed) but I think overall he did a great job for us, was an integral part of the title-winning team and could have been a good squad player for at least another season.

-- Mon Sep 02, 2013 10:00 pm --

Hope he proves me wrong but I am not convinced by Fernandinho based on what I have seen.

Right time for him to leave, we had our money's worth and more out of him - he goes with my thanks for the part he has played in our recent success and hopefully he has a plenty of playing time at Everton.

Had a fine season when we won the title 2 years ago. And I'm still not convinced that DM is fernandinho's best position

No, perhaps he wasn't. I remember him arriving on the back of some goal & assist-laden seasons at Villa but when he signed I can only guess Hughes had a different plan for him. He adapted to his new role quickly though and fulfilled the expectations required for us over a number of seasons. He's an excellent professional who contributed more than he's credited for. Good luck to him.

Yeah but like I say, I don't feel I saw the same player at City that I saw at Villa.

Never really liked him, yeah he was important, did hard work, but he is extremely slow and couldnt support the attacks.
Never saw a good match from him individually in the CL, he was targeted by opponents many times as our weak point. Surely he could be useful a few league matches this season no question about that, he has a lot of experiences but you know even Hull is playing pressing tactics and many more smaller PL teams, they would all love to play vs slow midfielders like Barry.

I think he is overrated by City fans but some of the other fans hugely underrate him. He is not a horrible, shit midfielder that some people describe him also not the fantastic midfielder that keeps the team going...

I think we replaced him last summer with Rodwell. If Barry would be as useful as some people think now better clubs than Everton would want him in startin lineup maybe...

I dont think he will be a regular for Everton but who knows Darron Gibson played a lot in their midfield...

Also the decision to let him go is his wages, 120.000 per week, and we clearly see Pellegrini's plans, Barry would be a player that cant sit on the bench most of the time. For 120.000 per week it would be a little bit of joke...

If we loan him to Everton, at least they pay like 60-70.000 from his wages, pretty sure we have to pay the rest but at least we save lets say 60.000 per week. About 2.5m pounds...

I want Rodwell and Milner to get all those playing minutes what Barry would get this season.

Dont forget Mancini wanted De Rossi (or Javi Martinez) two summers ago, also last summer. The reason was to replace Barry. Not Yaya.
