Can we afford to let Barry go?

Keep in mind he's on loan. Obviously he's getting old now but we can always get a last bit out of him next season if needed.

He is in the last year of his contract.

Barry has played his last game for City, I wish him all the best and thank him for what he has done!

I think we gambled big on Fern.

It is mistake to loan out Barry. He's a talented, intelligent, calm player that our midfield is sorely lacking right now. We might Barry and De Jong actually.

I trust management but this was not very well thought out.

This is one of pellegrini's first mistakes. We now lack a ball winner in midfield. Gaz baz always played well in the big games IMO. Old Trafford last year for instance he was immense

Been a good signing for us and wish him well.

I think he was on the wane a bit last season and the worry about letting him go is more about the fact we may not have replaced him properly.

I think it was right to let him go but I am not convinced our midfield is strong enough.

If the manager doesn't rate him then unfortunately he has to go. No point paying 80 large for a guy who the manager will not appreciate or pick.
I liked Barry and understood he did the ugly things very well, things that we are seeing Ferdy and especially Yaya not doing very well at all.
All the very best, an excellent signing, an excellent pro and Everton should be bloody grateful you decided to pitch up at the shitehole.
Thanks.

Shame. Think we may rue this decision, however, if MP thinks he doesn't fit his sytem then so be it. It it now down to MP and the rest to implement what is required - if that means pressing the opponents in their half & being a bit more mobile then so be it. If not seen anything from Yaya or Ferdy so gauge whether this will work. More effort required from both.

It's a strange one for me. Barry said not long back that he wanted to stay and fight for his place, and as stated before we look a bit light in the defensive midfield department. Also who knows if Barry hadn't have ended up at Everton then maybe the rags wouldn't have got Fellaini.
