Can we afford to let Barry go?

NO!

Sadly it looks as if he himself wants to go for regular football which you can't really blame him for.

I do fear about what may happen if our current midfield combination comes up against decent opposition. Barry always stepped up in the big games (domestically anyway)

If he's determined not to play him, yes.

This. Barry has been a servant of the club. If Pellegrini is set on not even naming him to the team, let him move on.

If he's going to let him leave, then I hope at least he has his eye on a replacement. If not, letting him go would be a foolish decision.

He is a really good player, but he does give the ball away too frequently.
I still want to thank him for that 93rd min header to win 1:0 at home to Reading!

Also agreed; implied is that good business is done. Unfortunately its difficult to find a prem level replacement that is content to receive time just here and there.

The only strong argument for letting Gaz Baz go is a financial one. From a purely footballing perspective, we should keep him: there will still be plenty of situations where his the value of his experience will outweigh the downside of his slowing legs.

Keys tweeted Barry off to Everton. If so we are facilitating uniteds move for fallaini

Yes although I would be a bit pissed if its only a loan move to Everton hopefully we can get a small fee for him instead of him leaving for nothing next summer. I can understand why the club wants rid he is on the last year of his contract, won't be getting a new one and will be on extremely high wages. If we continue to play two in the midfield I can't see him getting much game time with Fernandinho, Yaya, Rodwell plus Milner and Garcia.
