Can we afford to let Barry go?

He wasn't up to much last year, a lot of poor performances compared to the title winning season (to be fair, not really helped by Yaya reduced workrate). We have more than enough people who can play in CM at the moment, so I think we'll be alright. We'd have to lose 3 or 4 players in the same position to be exposed and can't see that happening.

Unless we have a replacement lined up I do think its a risk,we are hardly inundated with players of his skillset.in our current set up I'd actually play him in preference to yaya,Barry provides much more solidity and reliability which would allow Ferdy to play his game with more freedom.

Barry's still more than useful for the majority of domestic games if not the quicker, more technical Champions League. Can't believe we're letting him go and potentially paying him to leave or paying some of his wages for a loan in his last year of contract. Madness.

Goal: City are willing to hand Barry a £1.5m pay-off if he leaves on a permanent deal or will pay up to 40% of his wages if he goes on loan.

for European competition, i don't really rate Barry, but he can still do a job in most Premier League games. we can't rely to unreliable Garcia and injury prone Rodwell. Fernandinho needs to rotate with Yaya, they are similar box-to-box type player. we needs achorman to protect back 4 since our side back is going forward a lot.

i'm not his avid fan, but he deserve to stay for one more season in last year of his contract. same goes for Lescott. hopefully MP and Txiki will see this.

Hugely disagree, he was pivotal in most of our terrible games last year. He helped us tick in a decent amount of games, but he was nowhere near as reliable as he was the year before. If he hadn't already built up so much respect from our fans then he would have been slaughtered for some of his performances last year

He didnt play as well last year, but neither did anyone else except Zabba. Seeing as how things are not clicking too well at the mo, he could try him against Stoke, a team he knows how to play against, rather than the imports who could get a shock and not get into the game.

No, he isn't. Check out the Southampton disaster.

Yaya had just got off the plane from the african cup and it showed, they were all rubbish so to blame one player isnt right and gaz played well in a lot of matches last year but it seems to be the stick some keep beating him with

He did play well in a lot of games, but he decidedly looks to have lost a step and he was never extremely quick to begin with. Add to that the fact he doesn't deal with the opposition pressing him well, and you can see the current manager's reasoning.

I can see his reasoning but yesterday and at cardiff he would have been the stability in midfield that was lacking

If we dropped much deeper quite possibly. Not in a high line, though.

Agreed. If he wants to go then fair play to him he has put in a shift for us in his time with us. If he wants to stay then why get rid, his experience alone is invaluable. We don't need another CB situation a we have had with Kolo going
