Can we afford to let Barry go?

in the current system gaz baz would struggle

however his tidy neat passing is being missed especially today against teams thar press us high

one of my favorite city players

Said it all summer that if we let Barry go without an adequate replacement it will come back to bite us.

Yaya and Fern' aren't 'tacklers' like Barry which you need in the league.

Milner for some reason is played on the right, Garcia isn't good enough and Rodwell is injury prone.

We didn't do as well in the transfer market as many have proclaimed.

I could understand GB's departure better if we had a bunch of great kids waiting to step up. He may not fit ideally with MP's favoured playing style but that does not look too effective at the moment.

The last sentence is very true. We needed an Ozil type player and someone who can defend properly.

Barry wasn't good enough to be offered a new contract but we haven't replaced either him or kolo properly.

We look short of creativity and just poor at the minute

DIhno is a better tackler than Barry. He is faster, anticipates as well, and light years quicker. Barry's neat passing and astute movement when we had the ball, is what sets him apart. Even today against Chelsea, the ball often bypassed him. Had one great last man tackle, but that was it all game. defensively he spent the rest of the game fouling after he had been beaten.

We romanticize our ex-players too much. When he was here, many made him the scapegoat until Garcia came and relieved him of that title. Now suddenly, he is the answer to our defensive woes? Come on folks, lets not get silly about this.

Points well made and hard to argue with.

We have hedged our bets on replacements that given the outlay Barry would only replace if they were injured or out of form.

All of the players we have let go to other premier league clubs in recent times were incapable of stepping up to what is required at a club expected to be challenging for honours at home and in Europe.

Barry will be a valued member at Everton , he is a seasoned professional but lets be honest at 32 , Chumps League , International football and for where we need to be he has passed us by.

Unfortunately none of our new players have really hit the ground running and it seems apparent already that we will need to change our formation to better handle the rigours of the premiership.

Don't come in here with your making sense non sense. There is no need.

Thought Gaz Baz had a good game for the Toffees today, pity we let him go as he would have been quite useful in this current timeframe given our defensive frailties.
