Can we afford to let Barry go?

Said it all summer that if we let Barry go without an adequate replacement it will come back to bite us.

Yaya and Fern' aren't 'tacklers' like Barry which you need in the league.

Milner for some reason is played on the right, Garcia isn't good enough and Rodwell is injury prone.

We didn't do as well in the transfer market as many have proclaimed.
DIhno is a better tackler than Barry. He is faster, anticipates as well, and light years quicker. Barry's neat passing and astute movement when we had the ball, is what sets him apart. Even today against Chelsea, the ball often bypassed him. Had one great last man tackle, but that was it all game. defensively he spent the rest of the game fouling after he had been beaten.

We romanticize our ex-players too much. When he was here, many made him the scapegoat until Garcia came and relieved him of that title. Now suddenly, he is the answer to our defensive woes? Come on folks, lets not get silly about this.

Mate if you think fernandinho is a better tackler than Barry then you want to pop to that place they advertise on telly, you know the one called spec savers??

It is just opinion, but I am quite confident in my assertion.

Well after today I guess the Everton fans are glad they've got a past it midfielder. Sometimes doing you're job is not enough for some, maybe he should have set fire to his house and changed his name so it sounded foreign.

He had an absolute blinder today for Everton and I am sure they'll be laughing there cocks off us letting him go on loan. But you're right if he was called Flopinho and we'd spent £30mil on him then there would be many on here stroking the fat one proclaiming him as the new Messiah.

Make no mistake Pellers dropped a bollock letting Barry go.

I don't think Pellers really had a say in it, the word came from above...it is now all about FFP and £££££'s.

So platini is affecting the premier league after all.

Baines:

I've known Gareth through the England setup and I’ve always rated him really highly.

The City lads on the last international break were saying that they can’t believe that they haven’t kept him and he doesn’t play for them.

That says enough about his worth for any team he plays in.

Everyone rates him who he plays with and he has come in and shown what a great asset he is going to be for us.

We’ve seen straight away what he can give to the team.

I’m sure Gaz will tell you that he has not played as much as he would have liked and he has already produced a performance like that.

The prem have also introduced their own FFP regulations regarding salaries, City can no longer stockpile players.

Some fooker should swing for this decision - the only hope is that he helps us by taking points off other rivals

Well he's made a cracking start with the win over Chelsea. I'm with the players on this one. Its a poor decision made for the wrong reasons. Interesting to see how this will play in the dressing room especially as this was not a Pellers decision.

We could do what PSG did with another massive sponsership deal. We have the ability to keep players on big wages and buy in top tier players if we really wanted to. Something we have not done for 2 years.

Letting Barry go is the biggest joke since we let NDJ go, because we wouldn't give him a pay rise but spunked £16mill and £90,000 a week on Garcia, who simply will never be a footballer for us.

Letting Barry go was, like NDJ and Mancini sacking a bad bad move, we will regret this, the fixtures at the start of the season looked good on paper.
We got out of Jail with Hull, don't forget.
Hope I'm wrong but, we look lightweight - Barry was/is a class act.
