Can we cut Edin a break?

Lot's of better CF's than Dzeko:

Cavani
Falcao
Balotelli (plays best when leading the line a la cup semi and final)
Drogba (still)
Ibra
Rooney (when played there as 29 goals attests last season)
Benzema
Gomez
Klose
RVP

And when you've deleted the ones that probably wouldn't count as "poaching target men" (hold up play and fox-in-the-box tap-ins combined) as I said then you've added Drogba and Gomez truly, seeing as I'd already said Cavani and Falcao? Would you consider Rooney a target man? Or Benzema, or Ibra a poacher? They're not players scoring scruffy 3 yarders like a true poacher like Raul are they? That would discount them as poachers in my mind.

Personally I'd have Edin over Drogba or Gomez, most of the time Balo is hanging around nowhere near the goal line, waiting to score wondergoals.

Still even taking that whole list into account it shows the company Edin is in, and he is younger than most of them.

It was interesting to see your list though, sometimes I just don't get who some people on this board thinks is miles better than Dzeko. With our four strikers we are blessed, beyond any other club.

I don't think Edin is a bad player, far from it. As stated, he is the best 4th striker in world football, club or international. And I don't think it is doing him a disservice to say he is not as good as Kun, Tevez or Mario who I would say are all in or around the top 10 strikers/forwards/CF's in the world.

Mario plays the lone striker role very well, he often plays on the left of a 3 for City though to accomodate others. So of course he isn't on the line getting tap ins when playing that role.

I've never told there was no interest for him, I just told I don't believe it's 40m.

It's also worth remembering Mario is on record as saying Ibra is his hero and his dream is to play alongside him (albeit at the time he said in the Milan shirt). Were PSG really interested at 40 million pounds, you can bet your life that Mino Raiola would've been all over the papers with it because he will have known he could've squeezed a new contract out of City for Mario on that basis alone. And had we not acquiesced to the new contract, then it would be quite easy for him to argue that Mario was "following his dream" to go play at PSG alongside Ibra.

I disagree. An enquiry is just an enquiry. If PSG had been serious they'd have given Mino an idea of what kind of contract Mario would have received, and he would've used that to get a better contract out of us. He is the single most hard nosed agent out there right now. Even a hint of a better deal, and he'd have been in like a shot. He wasn't which goes some way IMO to showing that PSG (along with AC and Inter) had no serious intention of going anywhere near Mario.
