Can we do this to stop Delap's throw ins

Micah does that rather camp little skip thing when he takes throw-ins, this is not a criticism, not slagging him off and certainly not suggesting he is camp, it's just an observation.

By the way, the best way to counter the throw ins or any set piece is to leave at least one fast player on the half way line, they need to then leave at least 2 or 3 players back to mark them, this leaves the area less crowded and therefore easier to defend and might actually lead to a City attack particularly if we manage to get the ball upfield quickly and efficiently (this is a bit of a criticism of Given as he's the worst distributer of a ball I've seen for some time.)

On a slight tangent here -

What would Corrigan, Nixon or Coton have done with these corners?

Coton (spit) was a line keeper so the same as Given I would say.

Ok then, so which City keeper would you pick to deal with these throw-ins then?

Out of the three you picked it would have to be JC..........Joe Hart dealt with Stoke's long throws and corners last season easily enough.

Paste this into your browser and you'll see (if you scroll down to Question 8) that it is classed as unsporting behaviour to lift a fellow player to gain advantage and so a free-kick would be given against the Santa Cruz / Adebayor totem pole

...That said mind you, the example given shows Van der sar so I'm sure if it was Rooney and Fletcher with their hands up his arse in the 98th minute at the swamp and it was 1-1, the referee would probably give it.

Stoke freekicks are awful though, so it would be worth doing just to avoid the throw.

Also, why is it only Delap, of all the players in the country, can chuck the ball any distance? Doesn't seem that difficult to me. Come on Micah, get some practice in.

My point exactly

After having a quick brain dubbing session, it would appear that it is indeed legal for 2 players on the same team to climb on each other at any point during the game. Delap would not be able to climb on a team-mate to make the throw-in as both of his feet must be touching the ground when he throws the ball.

However with the speed delap gets on his throws it may well knock someone out from close range.

Doe's anyone remember about 10 years ago a Tranmere Rovers player who was similarly gifted when it cam to throw ins?

Anyway, I remember a game at Maine Rd where the ground staff had joined up all the advertising hoardings together so that there were no gaps and moved them right next to the touchline so that he couldn't have a run up. That seemed to deal with the problem.

Also, did you notice how all the Stoke ball boys carry towels. Every bleedin time they got a throw in play had to stop so that the ball could be dried properly.
