Can we have a poll on Dzeko....?

I find Edin an enigma. In a game he can be a 10/10 the next minute a 1/10 then twenty minutes later he can be back to a 10/10. For instance last night, generally poor, 1 real chance, 1 real good cross, some great movement in the box and boom 1-2. Then late in the game we are looking for some brilliance from someone, we are all looking at Silva, Nasri or Aguero yet Edin drops off his man, and plays an incredible ball through to Johnson, and Johnson incredibly turns inside again. If that ball were played to Edin, Aguero or Nasri we would have scored. My point being that if he can keep doing the good things, and hopefully more often and bring his poor spells from turgid to average he will be good enough. In my opinion he knows what to do, he has the ability to do it, he just needs to do it more often. It's all well and good saying he doesn't always fit in with our style of play, but the best we have played was Spurs away and he was sensational. Last night gave him 2 goals in 3 games, hopefully he will score against Everton and he'll go on a run again. Everything is there in my opinion, it just needs to come more often. It's taken Milner a year and Barry 18 months to gel in our side, and they have played for years in the Prem, Edin will adapt he's shown more than glimpses, he just needs more of them and to raise it when things aren't going his way. He also benefits when Ya Ya is there, Edin is an intelligent footballer and will move out wide or drop deep to leave one centre half isolated and then the midfield runners will expose that. See the Nasri goal Sunday, Edin's movement created space for Nasri to exploit space usually exploited by Ya Ya. I have faith.

I love Dzeko. I think he's class and gets a lot of undeserved stick, largely I believe from the fact it took him a while to settle after the hype of his arrival. Not just amongst the fans but football world wide really, anyone with half a decent rep who joins us now is going to be under the spotlight when they get a poor run.

For me, Dzeko is ahead of Balotelli every day. I back him big time now to take his chance while Mario is suspended as the guy needs more game time and to be given belief he is a star striker for us 'cause at the moment he probably feels 3rd choice and all strikers thrive on confidence from not only themselves but the team and manager.

One last thing, he needs a strike partner. With Aguero in the team he's scored the majority of his goals, if not all prehaps? The extra body going forward gives him extra space, extra support and one less dfender to hassle him.

My money's on Edin at Everton!

Rather have Dzeko than Torres ,Carrol,Hernandez,Defoe,Zamora...

Etc Etc... The goal last night shows his strengths as the goal against wigan, we simply dont play enough to his strengths..Dzeko is not a tippy tappy in the box forward hes a get on the end of sommat type player.

I understand the sentiment here, but if i had a choice I would take Torres in a heartbeat. I really think he would flourish at City in our team who could play to his strentghs. imagine the through balls he would run onto from Merlin (in the same way he did at Liverpool from Saint Stephen!) He's just with the wrong team at the moment...IMHO of course.

No back to thread, playing Dzeko as a lone striker isnt working and last night against 2 decent, strong, ball winning CH's he had no chance in a solo roll, he needed Aguero on to create the space and pull the 2 CH's out of position more.....but look at his goals to games ratio, which is the yardstick for any striker!

Understand what you're saying bud, but Dzeko is flourishing but in a way that many find frustrating, yes he misses more than he scores and hes missed a lot this season...But,hes up there with the prems best as far as goals...

I couldn't disagree more. Balotelli is one of the most important players on the pitch and does not deserve to be dropped for an inconsistent Dzeko.

At Wolfsburg, they seemed to be always whipping balls into the box for him, and he looked great - powerful, confident, great striker of the ball.

But when he's up-front with defenders around him and receives the ball with his back to goal, he can look rubbish (clumsy, even).

But although lots of people reckon he's "rubbish", he's still on target to score 20 goals this season (maybe) and if you really can hit 20 a season while being "rubbish" then it's not a bad knack to have.

Dont disagree Sam, and i am in the Dzeko "I0"n camp, but in a hypothetical world of best choices, I would still go for Torres who i think would deliver us the league! Again, its a game of opinion's and dont we just love it for that :-)

Dzeko is absolutely brilliant at getting on the end of crosses and scoring goals but unfortunately we don't have anyone who consistantly delivers quality into the box, other than Nasri. We just need an old fashioned winger (as a squad player/different option when Silva & Nasri aren't getting space through the middle) to provide width and genuine quality crosses into the right areas. AJ is great when his confidence is up and he's running at players but he doesn't get crosses into the box. Looks how many chances the scum create with Valencia and Nani just whipping over crosses constantly, Dzeko would score 30/40 goals a season with service like that. We play a different style and I think Silva and Nasri are a million times better than those two but we do need that different option. Dzeko certainly needs to work on his first touch and integration into the quick passing moves but that's not his natural game, like Aguero's natural game isn't a towering back post header but you have to work on your weaknesses to make you a better player.

Only this! It would be great for City players to cross a bit more; City's attacking would become more unpredictable.

Absolutely Spot on with this analysis of Dzeko. Give him the ball facing goal (crosses or through balls) he will bang them in all day long (just look at his goals he has scored as proof)

That is why the tactics were to use wing backs last night to get crosses in. We didnt get enough over to him, and the good one that did come over, he put it away. We played too narrow again last night for the system we started with. Kolorov and Zabba didnt penetrate or run the flanks well enough, they werent effective. They positioned wide but didn't penetrate wide hence very few crosses. the balls were predictively being passed into Silva and Nasri to feed through the centre which was ineffective. The tactic for WB's was understandable, but not executed well at all. Dzeko had little opportunity to play to his strengths.

THAT IS WHY MANCINI LOOKED FURIOUS LAST NIGHT. SIMPLE INNABILLITY TO EXECUTE TACTICS

14 /15 goals for us already this season.

Yeah, it is hard to look past that. But 4 did come in one game. Even at QPR he was having a shocker till he scored. I am just not sure he is good enough, in fact, I really don't think he is. But I suppose as a striker you need to score, and that is a decent stat. But in terms of all round game- poor.

Lets take the 4 goals OUT that he has scored vs Spurs and perhaps the one from Wigan and suddenly the Epl Table standing would look different.

I am not here to DEFEND or PRAISE Dzeko and really don't give a SHIT what happens with him as he doesn't pay my bills. But what really makes me sick how many CITY FANS these days are complaining/moaning/bitching and insulting their own players after every GAME, its like a fuck*ng cancer on here.

All i can say that CITY FANS need to wake up every morning and thank whomever they wanna thank for having such a tremendous season.
19 other EPL TEAMS would love to have your OWNER and YOUR PLAYERS and you should count yourself lucky to be part of this new CITY ERA. Unfortunately Many CITY FANS have died and never got a chance to see their CITY setting all kinds of records, being on top of the leauge!!

Great player ,wish he`d concentrate abit more in possesion, would score 30 goals a season with decent wingers.we dont have any!
