If there were a 'Premier League Player of 2010' Award, Carlos Tevez would walk it.

Skysports just awarded him that.

I really am dumbstruck by the shit people write. Tevez being selfish and not playing for the team deserves a special mention. To those who wrote that, notably Bigga and Damocles, I ask:

On the pitch, Tevez is widely regarded as being one of the most hardworking players in the Premier League. Why do think he puts in such a shift when we've not got the ball? For himself? Or does football only begin when you're in possession? Why, if he is so selfish, is he known for being so hardworking?

The problem with football these days is that it's too accessible. Everyone's got an opinion regardless of how informed they are to make that opinion.

You seem to misunderstand the point driven home, so I'll put it in simplistic terms more ready to think about...

On average, we're scoring perhaps 1.7 goals a game, thus our goals for/ against is not as good as it could be with the talent we have.

Should we be level on points, come the end of the season, the score tally will be our undoing. We had a great chance to really ram home the fact that we are full of goals and the 'top teams' will have to keep scoring lots to keep us at bay should goals matter. We are FOURTH in those terms and one or two games over The Arse, The Scum and The Rent Boys.

Goals matter as well as points as we get into the nitty gritty, is my opinion.

If they could afford him, childish outbursts apart-Tevez would walk into ANY side in the world.

He is without doubt the best forward in the PL-and for those calling hims "selfish" I would say that he is a mdifielder or defender's dream for the way that he leads and defends from the front.

And I never saw a top striker that wasn't greedy.

Bad day at the office.

username Bigga, Ive never heard a "Bigga " load of shit in all my life, you are a deluded tosspot if you think this or any football team would be better off without Tevez, get real or fuck off.
He's stating the facts. We've been better in the last couple of months without him in the team. Plenty of people will disagree with your second statement.

Carlos had an off day today, at times it seemed like he'd been taking lessons in staying onside from Adebayor, subsequently slowing the play down, as you correctly mention. However there is no other striker in world football that I would swap him for. Yes, he can be greedy, especially at home and this can be to our detriment on occasion, however it can also be the difference between getting a draw and 3 points, like against Chelsea at home this season. Besides, the best striker I've ever seem was a greedy little **** from Rio de Janeiro called Romario, he really was quite good.

Tevez is an awesome player....his weakness is he's not very tactical in his play. As a lone striker, he comes far too deep to collect the ball and that makes it harder for his team mates to find space. sure his numbers are there for everyone to see, but is he hindering the other two forwards to get in great positions as he drops deep and the defenders can push forward. if he mixed his game a bit more and drag defenders with him, there would be more space for others

i thought he was a bit on the greedy side today but had a think about it and went and compared him to other strikers today!

he passed the ball 8 times into the opposition's box 5 successful 3 not successful and being honest i could not find any other striker today other than van persie that got close too or matched this?

so may be not as bad as you think all so considering he had 9 shots 2 shots on 5 off and 2 blocked shots and the 5 shots off were pretty damn close.

so in conclusion i say carry on tevez your doing a bloody grand job :)

As someone has already suggested, the fatal flaw in this argument is the assumption that if he passed more to someone else, then they would automatically score. I think the overall standard of finishing throughout the side is pretty shocking to be honest. Silva certainly should be better for a player of his sublime ability but he has missed some awful sitters this season - including today.
Me and Bigga are never going to agree on this subject but I hope those slating him on here don't transfer it to the stands. Still our most important player by a mile, no matter who the current South Stand darling is or isn't

I got three words for this thread...........

F@ck off Bigga

Interesting. People who don't understand simple things. That's fine. Clearly, you don't watch the actual game or watch what goes on around the man. That's fine.

I have an opinion that is based upon WATCHING football and not Tévez's famed 'work rate'.

Ta.

Are you also comparing the same amount to solo dribbles to the chance to pass?? He should also be the top of that chart by some distance, too!

I guess all I'm saying is, if the man passed more to the ones that are stood in front of goal(as he's occupied other players), we'd more than likely be way past the Scum on GD. Passing into the box doesn't always mean a 'scoring chance', it could mean a 'lay off/ one-two'. Johnno gets lots of these in and around the box.

Funny enough, the more I think about it, the more likely CT would have scored more than this NOW if he'd been using other players! As it is, when he dribbles at the oppo, they surround him.

If he changed up his game more, he'd have more space for tap ins!
