I think 65 - 70% is generally the maximum, but I agree with you, it’s definitely worth protecting.I always led to believe because I have 80% or more, it’s best to keep it protected?

Genuinely interested to know the reason why this is. What is the thinking behind it?I think 65 - 70% is generally the maximum, but I agree with you, it’s definitely worth protecting.
As an example, If I have full NCD, let's say 70%, and say I'm paying £300 for my car insurance.Genuinely interested to know the reason why this is. What is the thinking behind it?
They’ve gone up loads this year due to the “cost of parts.“Just had my renewal drop today from the AA and it's gone up from £170 to £277 with no changes. That's a 63% rise. I'm in my 60s and have never made one single claim in my life. Comparison sites here I come because regardless of the quotes I'm dumping them to make a point.
OK, turns out I'm not making a point after all. Compare the market has a couple of no-mark companies slightly undercutting them and the first major name (Churchill Essentials) at £300, even Hastings Direct who have been usually on the money (so to speak) have theirs at £320.They’ve gone up loads this year due to the “cost of parts.“
To be fair, you always are. That’s the principle of Insurance.OK, turns out I'm not making a point after all. So I'm paying for the people who do put claims in I guess.
But unfortunately you also pay for the twats who dont bother having insurance or have insurance that doesn't actually cover them e.g motor traders insurance, the misuse of which is rife around Bradford and Birmingham. Yet the fine is only £300, why aren't they lobbying the government to make this £3000 ?To be fair, you always are. That’s the principle of Insurance.
The many, pay for the few.
Must be more than a few for a 63% hike within the last year :(To be fair, you always are. That’s the principle of Insurance.

I could bore you with all the reasons why it’s gone up that much, including the Fair Pricing Act which now goes across all Personal Lines policies, but it would bore you! Haha.Must be more than a few for a 63% hike within the last year :(

Then there's the fraudulent claims bunch.
Whatever you do don't have a black box fitted. When my youngest just passed his test he was working shift work . Because he was driving regularly after 10pm they cancelled the insurance just try getting new insurance if a company has cancelled a previous policy. So mine’s up in Decemeber and was bored looking on the compare websites and f*ck me, it’s getting expensive.
Anybody else around the M9 area that can point me in the direction of a decent insurance company? I’m guessing they are all going to be expensive.
What made me laugh though, even though I have been driving for 18yrs with 18yrs NCD (i’ve never had an accident) 2 of the cheapest want to fit my car with a Black Box - what is that all about? Strange
No chance i will - they are for kids who have just passed the testWhatever you do don't have a black box fitted. When my youngest just passed his test he was working shift work . I've just got insurance with the plug in box, but I think there are different types. The one I've got only uses data for milage driven and nothing else. Or at least that's what's on the t's and c's. :-/ Either way, I've got nothing to hide on my insurance.Whatever you do don't have a black box fitted.
