Car Insurance

I'm currently looking at quotes for Mrs Mists car.
I put the exact same details into Compare the Market and Confused.

Compare came back £165 dearer than the other and both were quoting for Hastings Essential.

How can 2 so called comparison sites be so different? It makes a mockery of using them.

£104 this year, was £140 last year. FC PNCD Marmalade. I was surprised, I had a renewal quote from DL for £900 in 2017. Age related discrimination charging me less and less :)

66 plate Honda Civic 1.8 petrol. Insured with LV. Fully comp, full no claims. Last year £234.80, this year £176.74. Didn't even need to call them this year to get a reduction, that was just the renewal price they quoted. Nice surprise.
Pardon me for being dim but what does 66 plate mean?

Insurance companies rely on lazy / old people who don't shop around and auto renew. They're all robbing, scamming twats.

On a related note some dizzy old woman drove into the back of my car last year, needed a few grand in repairs. Absolutely nothing to do with my "risk" or driving at all. Totally her fault, her insurance paid etc.

Guess what - you still need to declare it on a renewal my premium went up a couple hundred quid.

I can *almost* understand why some people fuck it off and risk driving uninsured.
I go out of my way to make sure I don't go with the cheaper offer after cancelling because I am changing to one of their "sister companies".

2017 reg numbers are as follows.
Date of registration :-
Jan 1st to Feb 28th - 66 plate
Mar 1st to Aug 31st - 17 plate
Sep 1st to Dec 31st - 67 plate
Sounds like something out of an eggheads show.
Glad in Oz you just get 3 letters and 3 numbers, and no idea how old the car is.

I've jumped early on ours. Not even going to wait for the renewal quote to come through from Admiral. Saw one of Martin Lewis's emails that said check now even though you may not be up for renewal...

Was paying £75pm with a £300 total excess. New quote from Aviva with all the bells and whistles and £100 total excess is £39pm.

Gonna let the old policy run it's course as there's only a month left so it'll mean doubling up for a month but I didn't want to risk not getting that quote in a month's time.

You do realise it is illegal to have dual insurance and if anything was to happen during this month then neither insurance company would pay out?

Is it?

I thought it was only if I tried to claim on both? (Which I won't). If it was any longer than a month I'd cancel the original one but if it's illegal then I will cancel straight away
