Carabao Cup Final Post-Match Thread

Just got in. We took over a Villa allocated pub in Harrow. They really are stuck in 1982. Their clothes were even older.

About 25 years ago I lived in the Midlands. Birmingham city centre was like something from the 70s back then with only a tiny area around the canal having any nightlife. It was about on par with a night out in Bury.
A couple of years ago my flight from BHX to Newark got cancelled and we had to spend a night in Brum. I was glad to see that it had improved beyond measure, but was still only around where Manchester was before the IRA bomb.

I posted during the week that villa had more than their fair share of jealous, bitter gobshites who have reared their ugly heads after a few years under their rocks

A couple of posters shouted me down

My experience on Wembley Way before the game confirmed to me I was spot on

Hopefully they’ll drop into the championship in May but have a longer visit this time

The half time/ full match entertainment made ours actually look good.

Half time a villa fans and bizarrely a palace fan?? And then full time comes and they Blare out the worst music I’ve heard

I know this seems a stupid point to make hours after the game but what was with Lee Mason and that "free throw in" for Villa?
The Villa player who was treated was not fouled and the ball went out of play naturally for a City throw. Yet after treatment Mason insisted the ball be given to Villa!

Classic 'game management' in order to advantage the opposition. Something City players have had to get used to for a number of seasons now.

Villa fans are a weird bunch. Very gobby, but it was, as if they were all reading the same lines off the same sheet.

We definitely have more in common with with fans such as Sunderland and Everton.
Going to Villa Park and mingling with their supporters when I briefly lived in B'ham a lifetime ago was at least preferable to a trip to St. Andrew's. And the Villa fan on Ian Cheeseman's Wembley video diary was a decent bloke, said City played the best football in the country.

One asterix more and we don't give a fuck, one asterix more and we don't give a fuck.

Their player tapped it out of play and pointed to the injured player.
