Carabao Cup Final Post-Match Thread

I must of got lucky with the villa fans then cos all the ones i bumped into yesterday were a good laugh.

I found a funny bunch on the tube. Seemed sound guys, all ages. Every club has a minority. I was behind the goal in our end and I thought, fuckin' 'ell, I'm in the South Stand. Some fellah smashing shit out of the metal sheets above our head, and two fellahs falling a over t after the second goal!

Villa fans terrible to be honest.
Fantastic day though.

I don't consider stones made a mistake, he lost his balance/slipped while going backwards. He certainly didn't affect his game afterwards! Another trophy in the bag, Foden, Its great to see a local lad in such an important game play the way he did. That will give him so much confidence along with Mom!
Yes one slip, it happens and unfortunately cost us a goal. The agenda press crucifying his dreadful performance will probably have had it written before the game. He played well and played his part in us winning a trophy. Which after living through 35 barren years should never be sniffed at.

Ive heard a lot on this thread about how unpleasant the Villa fans were etc and whilst I didn’t experience any of it directly, I can quite believe it from what I saw of them. That said, City had 34,000 there yesterday and judging from what Ive seen in the past from City, including last Wednesday in Madrid, I’m more than surprised that yesterday didn’t turn into a mass brawl up and down Wembley Way before and after the game.

I am surprised a few........well more than a few...weren't given a slap yesterday. My fighting days are well behind me I hope, but even for me it took all my willpower to not launch into a few of them yesterday. Banter is one thing but this was aggressive, in your face out and out rude and disrespectful goading. Well done to all from refraining even though part of me sits here today wishing I hadn't.

I think that just demonstrates the way we play and the luck we don't have - every mistake leads to a goal, and yet again the first shot on target is conceded. When a mistake occurs, or a slice of bad luck, and a goal is conceded, we immediately notice 'the culprit'! How many times had John Stones retreated backwards with no unfortunate outcome. Just John's luck that the only time is in a Cup Final and it gets the oppos back in!

Yes, it was similar to the one Vinny got sent off for against United and we were all absolutely furious about that.
Vinny got sent off because it wasn't the best tackle ever but rug head bullying the ref played the bigger part as you well know ;-)
There were two reds there yesterday but hey ho we won the cup again.

Met some of their fans having a pint in Rickmansworth pre-match and they were OK. However arriving on Wembley way around 3.30pm it was clearly knobheads day out from Birmingham; had one nut yelling in my face and trying to block my way with his flag - I had my 12 year old daughter and 14 year old son with me and my mate similarly had his kids with him - how brave of the Villa knobhead and his mates. Fortunately another member of our group who is quite tall and well built went over and had a word and the problem was sorted.

Up and down Wembley way before and after the game we had boorish behaviour and them generally banging on about 1982 which for them seems all they want to sing about; can only put it down to jealousy as we overtook them many years ago and they barely register with us now, and yet they seem to think they are somehow better fans or have more support because they sold their lower ticket allocation a couple of days before we did - I await their parade for this achievement. Thankfully after a group of them piping up again about 1982, a large group of Blues in the tube queue just before the steps at Wembley Park reminded them that they've had their day out, and it was time to go home!

Thought Stoke, Sunderland, Chelsea & Arsenal fans far better and more personable on Wembley games - Villa Park is a decent away day but I genuinely hope they go down. A large percentage of their fans are tiresome wind up merchants who'll disappear within a heartbeat when the chips are down.

Think I saw the same group. Just before the bridge on the final section of Wembley Way back up the steps to the tube. About 7-8 of them who were just aiming for a reaction. I felt embarrassed for them, they cling on to something that happened 37 years ago & don’t have anything else, as others have said, the Manchester United of the Midlands, just without the Trophies. Also the accent is absolutely awful.
