Cardiff vs Swansea in the Premier League

Got a mate from Cardiff (a Cardiff fan), and do they hate Swansea? Oh F**k they don't half!!
What's the Jack thing all about??

Loads of hatred! So many Swansea fans have come out of the woodwork over the past couple of years. In school they all used to take the piss because I supported City and they all supported United/Liverpool.

People from Swansea are called Jacks not just the team.

Living in Cardiff for the last few years, I've got to agree with Benarbia_is_god. Great set of fans, no thuggery unless they're provoked, in which case they'll stand their ground (bit like us Blues). Hate Swansea with a passion. They've been through some tough times, and several seasons of almost being promoted before folding at the last hurdle seem to be behind them. Very loyal fans, and it'll be good to see them in the Prem. Having them and Swansea in the same league again will add a bit of extra spice to things!

Cardiff fan living in exile in Manchester here (i regularly go to the Etihad to watch u lot). Tonight will be a very emotional night for us, finally making it to the big time. South Wales Derby imo is definately up there as one of the best derbies in the country. Cardiff City is a sleeping giant and has a wider support in Wales (being the capital city helps) than Swansea. Really looking forward to next season!

10% of the Premier League will be Welsh

With Cardiff going up tonight, that's 2 clubs up in the top flight who don't even reside in the same country as the rest of the league. Is this the first time it's happened?

Yes.

Cardiff City have previously spent 15 seasons in the Top Flight while Swansea have spent four.

But season 2013-14 will be the first time both clubs have participated in the Top Flight together.

Another away game I can get to next season, happy for them but it's the most divided club in the world. Fan base is torn between a minority of those who want the blue back and the reds who are premier league at all costs.

Just go on there messageboard, despite promotion the rebrand is the number one topic.

It's not uncommon for Foreign teams to appear in the Leagues of other countries - Monaco in France and Derry in Ireland are two examples.

Several Austrian clubs participated in the German Top Flight after the Anschluß and Rapid Vienna won the 1941 League Championship.

There are also several Canadian clubs who play in the MLS.
