Carlos Tevez

IMO it's vital that we keep him. Can't believe a few of you would happily let him go. Last season i'd say he was our most influential striker, despite not scoring prolifically. He's our most versatile striker as well, playing in the deeper role a lot as well. Aguero doesn't provide what Tevez has (incredible work rate when no one else can be arsed). There's been a fair few times which he's dragged us through games with the 3 points this season, sealing 2nd place inevitably. ( wigan, swansea home? )

I agree with people saying we should try to keep him. But only on the condition he signs a new contract. Under no circumstances can we let him stay 1 more year and leave on a free when his current contract runs out. If he is intending to leave we have to sell him this summer.

If he doesn't want to sign a new contract this summer and intends to leave next year I can't see how we are going to be able to sell him.

Every club that wants him will just wait until next year when he is a free signing.

The only hope we had was Monaco.

This.

Even if he has not got his shooting boots on his general play and work rate is outstanding.

I still firmly believe he would get into any team in the world, either as a striker or as a creative midfielder! We have to keep him for another year at least in my opinion.

Can't see us allowing him to play out his last year.

He'll either sign an extension or be sold, I'm sure that there will be a few teams happy to pay 10-15mil for him this summer.

Personally I get the feeling he'll fancy sticking around for another year now that Bob has gone.

Here's my issue with Tevez, bearing in mind the wages he's on (highest at the club):

- If he's a striker, he's no longer clinical enough. Joint 3rd most wasteful player in the league last year with 15% of chances converted. He misses a LOT of chances and is our most wasteful striker.

- If he's an attacking midfielder, he lacks the creativity of some actual attacking midfielders (rather than a converted attacking midfielder) we could sign on lower wages. Not on the list of most chances created for top Premier League players (Silva is though) and 8 assists.

Carlos has great workrate but just to play Devil's advocate here (as I'll be happy if he stays), I can understand why the club might want to get his £200,000/week wages off the books since he seems to neither be a top striker or top attacking midfielder, just a mix of both who can do a good job. For £200,000/week you perhaps expect him to be at the same level he was a few years ago.

Pretty much sums up the situation.
