Really?

Because I'd have thought that with Shakhtar refusing to lower the fee for a number of weeks, that would have made it quite the opposite?

Really? How quickly do you think deals are done?
Just the lawyers, and we talk about three sets of lawyers take a week, then there´s medicals and before that there´s the actual bidding for a player, proposals and counterproposals..

If any deal for a first team player is done within a month it would impress me, that´s why so many deals are on a slow burner during the season.
Fernandinho was a battle. He thought he was never going to be able to get Shakhtar bosses to lower his release clause. It went on for months, only City fans weren't focussed on it, because he hasn't got a catchy song
Yes, and we had a season to focus on.

It is only good business if we replace him with someone better.

Some people were saying getting rid of Johnson and de Jong was good business. They were replaced with Sinclair and Garcia. Shit business !

If Cavani goes to Chelsea who is left who is better than him?

Exactly

Its hard to find a player who can score 17 and had 10 assists who is worth less than 20 million.

hes in the last year of his contract why would anybody pay 20 m for him

Seem to recall arsenal getting similar fee for pLayers on last year of contract.

Please stop comparing Tevez to RVP. Completely different class.

Suarez. However unlikely he would move to another English club and if Cavani goes to Chelsea Suarez will surely go to Madrid.

And wage bracket. Tevez earns £200,000/week, Van Persie was on £90,000/week. We may have to subtract whatever signing-on fee Tevez is likely to get for agreeing to a wage cut, because Italian clubs are tight like that. If only Monaco had followed up their interest, we might have gotten £20million.

Actually Johnson was replaced with Navas. It just took a while :)

A simple plea: Please please do not sell Carlos. THAT really would be a mistake, never mind worrying about not getting Cavani or Isco and so on. He is a top top player and under a new manager, with his troubles in the past he'll be awesome. I hope I don't have to watch him ripping up teams, as he undoubtebly will, wearing a different coloured shirt. We should keep what is good of what we've got. Is anyone honestly telling me we can sign a better striker and if so who is it??

Keep Carlos Tevez at least one more year.

-- Tue Jun 25, 2013 6:13 pm --

Keep Carlos Tevez at least one more year.

Di Marzio just wrote an agreement is super close at just over £10million with NO addons, so Juve seem to have haggled us down slightly but at least it's above £10million if true.

Keep Carlos Tevez at least one more year.

Nope. He won't sign a new contract -allegedly - £10 mill fee, save on a £6 Mill loyalty bonus and release £10 mill pa in wages.

£26 million pounds in OWC released. We'd be idiots not to sell. We're not idiots.

10m is a pretty good deal considering 12 months left and his 210k a week wages if was on around 90k we might of got 8m more

If tevez goes we will surely replace him and hopefully with cavani or suarez.

Cavani looks set to go Chelsea and plus we wont pay the fee, Suarez looks a good option but for me he is a dead cert for Madrid if they have failed with Cavani.
