Take the fee (9m) combined with wages (10m/year) and bonus payment avoidance (6m). If we get someone in on half his salary (5m/year), then it's akin to having received a fee of 20m (25-5)

We didn't pay much more than that for him?

Its simple IMO .. He's an awesome player and can turn a gme on its head in an instant. BUT looking at the bigger picture and the long term which is what the club is doing now, he is entering the last year of his contract which by all accounts he is not gonna renew, he has a loyalty clause apparently of £6M and he's on what £200k a week by all accounts. So to get a buyer now and even if it is £10M and saving the £6M loyalty clause and £200k a week wages it makes sense.

That money will cover Navas's fee and be half the wages ..

This makes perfect sense, and also this fee could be the difference in signing our next target. Wasn't some of the problem last that we couldn't move players on in order to bring in the players we wanted.
