CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

No need to talk to Der Spiegel when you get the information from Pinto - The alleged thief. (I say alleged because he just became the best place to leak information. It is more likely that Qatari state security did the hacking., )
The Pinto trial will be fascinating (starts in September). It looks like his lawyer is going for the "whistle-blower" defence which explains why he is happy to speak to UEFA. He will do anything to make himself look like a victim. But he was apparently caught trying to collect payment of blackmail money at a motorway service station. He also had hundreds of thousands of pounds in Swiss bank accounts.
I don't think the City emails feature in any of the 90 charges but there are charges relating to Benfica FC and Sporting Lisbon. I think the police believe he is in the business of selling hacked data to whoever will pay. I wonder if the Qataris are just one of his customers.

The balls on them to do that.

They could have easily excepted a reduced sentence deal instead of going to CAS.

They must feel pretty confident now about the future.

I believe City sought and received the best legal counsel for the job, knowing how well the CAS hearing had gone.

You can be confident but until the verdict was announced, it was still to be known.

What a horrible situation to be in. There were no leaks to feed off for a reason.

Aww.. lve grown to like the posts of the people who think their decisions to give their precious little click (or not) will affect huge companies.
Their click has exactly the same impact as that of a Mexican 11 year old using an internet cafe. Ie the square root of bugger all.
The MUEN gets loads of clicks from round the world but is dying on its feet with or without the Liverpool Echo's owners.

To be honest – it's simply not about how much revenue is made on each click for the paper – it's the information garnered by that click which is more expensive.
When you click on that page – unless you'e using a VPN, your IP address can tell them loads... Emails are the same... you'd be amazed at how much information can be gathered from an email just from you opening it... say an email off City for the new kit launch, they know if you open it, they can pretty much pin-point your address from doing so, and will know if that email prompts you to go the city Website etc. etc.
All this digital information is worth far, far more to the newspaper than the pittance they get from simply one click

To add to that, see this quote from the BBC...

"Publishers increasingly use it for simple economics; the more clicks you get, the more people on your site, the more you can charge for advertising.

A report by the Columbia Journalism Review highlighted the case of online magazine Slant, which pays writers $100 per month, plus $5 for every 500 clicks on their stories.

Slant is far from unique in this respect and this business model is becoming increasingly common, but opponents argue it means journalists will dumb down stories in order to get more clicks in order to earn a living."

So it literally pays for a journalist to write clickbait – the more hits, the more they personally make!

I’ve said before that UEFA is a multi layered organisation, with many different factions, all with different and sometimes opposing agendas.
To treat it as a single, united entity with a common goal is a mistake.

as has been said by others on here, it wouldn’t be surprising if certain elements were happy for the case to fail, given it will weaken the position of the ‘old guard’ who appear to be clutching at straws.

Ceferin, by all accounts, doesn’t want to continue this witch hunt and wants to build a proper working relationship.

fingers crossed.

I've been thinking about this as well. One of the factions you mention has to be the ECA which is an official partner of UEFA. So that's the old guard (the cabal clubs) sitting right at the heart of what you might call the "traditional" UEFA, effectively controlling it and seeking to kill it, like a cancer Ceferin wants to cut out. Ironic to think that the working relationship you mention might reflect the fact that MCFC are "traditional" UEFA's most powerful ally.

As I have said previously, the statement of applicable law / regulations released the previous week to both parties and dissected by our lawyers meant it would have been a huge suprise if we had not been aquited from the main charges.

Im not privy to what may have transpired beforehand, only the assertion that the senior personnel did not know the verdict and the nerves were very much real.

I would not know as to your knowledge on actual legal process beforehand.
