They have their own shipping docks so are well served by sea. France would not close airspace to them so air would be fine to and road via France. They have a good infrastructure at a glance it seems for an independent state. I would bet my last penny threats of blockades would have been murmured in EU halls if it was an available option.

They just had one on the news trying to poopoo it all, a catalonian ex MEP no less, felt like strangling him. I got the distinct feeling he would not have the tone he did if facing those Catalonians who want independence with his dismissive rhetoric.I think you may see what the EU bully boys are all about now

seeing as Catalans have turned on us British tourists this summer, not arsed really.
Like they did with Scotland during their referendum prior to the brexit vote?They will not allow any country to break up into regional states , this would not fit with super state they are trying to create. Spain will do the dirty work if they declare independence under orders from the dictators who run the EU.

I would usually agree but allies are in short supply for us. Sadly euro mp's made it clear this was a game with their threats of this and that. With that in mind the enemy of my enemy..., i mean Brussels here and it's aims. If they see they have economic friends like us it will embolden them to not listen to the nonsense.seeing as Catalans have turned on us British tourists this summer, not arsed really.
What i suggest is we forget that and give them a chance in the new light they find themselves in.

if the EU had these powers you speak of to influence whether a country has an independence referendum, why didn't they stop the Brexit referendum or fix it to go there way?

The Spanish government have declared their referendum illegal , France has said it will not recognise Catalonia as a independent country, Spain has said it will seize their assets & they most certainly will use troops to do it & you ask why didn't they stop the Brexit referendum in Britain? Is that because we are similar to Catalonia do you think ?They're both in the EU
