Catastrophic transfers are killing us.

I think this policy really took shape after the treble....

I think the success made the board believe that "Pep will figure it out" and they relied on Pep to make this all work, because they believed in our core of KDB, Walker, Haaland, Dias, and Foden.

I think they supplemented players that we let go, but never truly replaced and they got players that were more projects and developmental players and less quality.

The Kovacic buy was meant to be a player who could provide depth and do a job when necessary, he was not meant to be bought as a full-time starter, at the time it made sense.

Gvardiol, I think has been very good for us outside of these last couple of months, but the problem here isn't exclusive to him, I still think that was a good buy.

Doku has shown a lot of promise at times, I think he just needs to stay healthy and get minutes and I think the end product will come with time and experience.

Nunes was panic signing, plain and simple. He is not at the level necessary to play for this club.

Savinho, like Doku, has shown a lot of promise but needs quality around him to allow him to make mistakes, learn, and develop and he just doesn't have that here right now.

I think the idea of Ilkay coming off the bench in games where we need a goal or some stability could still work, but he does not have the legs to play 90 minutes consistently at this level anymore.

I think the club needs to supplement these signings with established players that have the quality to come in and compete for trophies now, not more projects.

Jack satisfied Pep's cautious era.

Possession, not dynamism.

The days of Leroy are /were long gone !!

The annoying part of this is that the Sane era team was good enough to do both. They were great at dictating the tempo, they could slow down and speed up when they needed.

Now we're missing any real pace in our play because our quickest players aren't fully developed and our best players would lose a foot race with a tree stump.

Doku I’m unsure about. But savinho has the ability to be every bit as good as mahrez if not better.

Lad needs time but his technical ability is not in doubt.

Not a chance in the world of Savinho being a better wide player than Riyad Mahrez imo.

Same for Doku / Raheem Sterling.

Sterling and Mahrez... We've never had it so good.

Despite being shite, Phillips WAS bought to cover DM, Kovacic was bought to cover there too.....so really we did/do?
We had Alverez to cover Haaland, and he played all over the place to get game time, and left! So who of that quality is going to want to sign (and stay)....for either position?
IMO.....it's nothing to do with the charges, just the financial rules making it harder to pay the wages an elite player wants...especially if he knows (and the club knows) that he won't be playing as much as elsewhere?
That’s fair enough but why, in the not too recent past have we managed to have on the wage bill AGUERO, DZEKO, BALOTELLI and TEVEZ all at the same time? We’ve taken our eye off the ball, allowed the squad to get too old and relied on burnt-out players to deliver again.

All you have to do is look at Liverpool’s attackers and frontline, and the attacking options they have compared to our attacking options.

Salah, Dias, Gapko, Jota, Nunez.

Until recently Haaland, Silva, Foden, Grealish didn't read too badly and we were top of the league. Things can change quickly (and clearly have done).
Salah was looking out of sorts last season, and Nunez was looking well below par.

You're not wrong though. As it stands, they look formidable and unlikely to drop many points whilst we are struggling to see where our next win might be.

Every window gives us a chance to put things right. We need a club transfer masterclass.

Hope txiki can pull it out of the bag.

Form is temporary, would always take Haaland over Nunez (and I'm not the biggest Haaland fan) and Foden, Bernado over all except Salah, and Grealish over Gapko and Jota.....just at the moment Foden and Grealish aren't up to pace, and Bernado seems to have forgotten how to play football.......the only advantage the dippers have, is if you throw Savinho/Doku into the equation, which is a long term worry, as they are a serious downgrade.
