14 goals from open play in 22 matches in the 4th best european league = the best striker in Europe? Also even if we'd include penalties he scored only in 13 matches and needs 110 minutes for 1 goal. Definitely not worth 52 millions.

Playing in a shit team. This is the striker who scored three in two games against us, and scored against Chelsea in cl.

Yes, I do, they are set up well tactically, but I don't rate hamsik, nd other than that I really think they are a mid table team in pl, especially those clowns in defence.

Napoli is 2nd in Seria A and I still remember our matches against them last season. However that team is build around him and it will be different when he'll join any club with other 2 or 3 top strikers. Also Napoli's counter-attack system with 3-5-2 in a slow league is very different to EPL and his performances in Uruguay shirt are awful.

Don't you think our club will have extensively considered whether he'll be able to adapt to a system that doesn't utilise counter attacking much before paying a club transfer record (if we do)? I'm sure after some past transfers it will be very carefully considered.

Also, not all of his goals are counter attacks. 2 of his 3 goals against us were not counter attacks nor was his goal against Chelsea. That is 3 of his 4 goals against two of England's best teams that weren't counter attacking goals. Only his first against us was a counter attacking goal (and a sublime one at that).

Well Txiki helped to spend 25M euros on Chygrynskyi and 66M on Zlatan so I can imagine we'll see some bad transfers too. Probably if we'd want to spend 50 on players who can score goals and create for others like Cesc... yes that would be a good decision. However I think we scored 90 goals last season so I'd rather think why we can't perform like that again. If you think our biggest problem is that we didn't spend 50 on one striker... then ok.

According to reports this morning we have put in a initial bid of £40m for Falcao :-

According to the Sunday People, sporting director Txiki Begiristain has begun negotiations in a possible £40m move.

Falcao is behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the La Liga scoring charts this season, and has become one of the most sought after strikers in Europe.

City have moved early to get a head start on their rivals after missing out on top targets last summer.

Looks as though Txiki is already beginning procedures in terms of acquiring Falcao/Cavani/Neymar

Now we probably will not end up with all 3 but at least it shows that we are trying to get business sorted in time for pre-season.

I'm not all that keen on Serie A strikers, Balotelli left a sour taste in my mouth.
Falcao would be great but we have to set a limit on the price tag.
I think that any more than £45m is too much.
