Cavani & Falcao

Ive watched Cavani in a few Uruguay games to see him in a different system, and he looks class in Napolis formatio and in a more traditional role for uruguay. He can lead the line and hold the ball up, bringing in the midfield.

I wasnt sure he would fit us based on the way he operates for Napoli but after seeing him for Uruguay, i have no doubt. He is the best of the options discussed so far. In my opinion.

Totally agree with this.

Cavani is great because he is flexible, he can play all over the pitch. He will probably not score as many goals as Falcao, but he will do a lot of other things that will make us a better team overall, in my opinion. We need someone like Cavani who can play the flanks with great effect. We already have Aguero in the middle who plays a somewhat similar role to Falcao.

With Uruguay, the coach has favored the Forlan/Suarez combo, which actually makes a little sense because they link up pretty well. In the recent Uruguay/Paraguay game, however, Cavani didn't come on until halftime but when he did they were a much better team. Messi, Falcao and many others score less goals for their national team than their clubs.

I'm definitely not too excited too but I'm afraid we're gonna see it if Mancini stays. Then we'll see how it would go..
dang, signing Cavani would not excite you guys? Seems like Falcao is getting hate too. So who would excite everyone? (besides Ronaldo/Messi).

They would not excite me on amounts often quoted about them, I don't have lot of pleasure about such business and being robbed.

I'd take Falcao in heartbeat at not more than 40, Cavani not even that, I don't think he fits City at all and I don't think he is as good as he is made to be.

I'd rather have players like Kiessling, Jackson Martinez, Michu, or (not realistic) Suarez and Lukaku; or Aubameyang (who I don't know much about but who's stats of 16 goals and 8 assists in Ligue 1 look great, even better since he is 23 years old). Would add that Bony guy from Vitesse to Aubameyang group too.

All of them are either proven in more clubs/national teams than Cavani, or are young talents.

All the players you named would be decent players, but we need world-class players if we are going to be a world-class team. Rather than spending 10 millions on 4 different players, better to get 1 for 40. Put another way, it would have been better if we spent 30 million on Javi Martinez rather than what we spent on Javi Garcia and Sinclair.

That would be right if I'd rate Cavani as world class 40m player. But I don't and explained why.

On above list is Suarez who is much better player than Cavani, Lukaku who's almost certainly going to be, Jackson Martinez who is very good one but has to prove himself somewhere else just as Cavani, and Michu who would cost at least half as much and who'd score more goals in City team than Cavani imo.

Kiessling is not one name that is often mentioned in this kind of discussions, he doesn't look like rock star as Cavani does but he is quite consistent and though I doubt he is considered at City he'd be on one of my lists.

And while I was writing that list I've forgot to add Jovetic who'd I buy before Cavani any day of the week.

I know you like Cavani, your nick shows that but I have big doubts about him and would never risk my 40m on him.

On the end of a day, neither mine or your view is important so we'll see. I wouldn't like City to pay that money for him but if he does I hope he'll prove me wrong and score 30 in his first season and wouldn't like if he goes somewhere else in PL and score that much :)

But until some of it happens, I'll stay on current positions :)

I asked this much earlier in the thread; if we dont get either of these who who would you all want ???

Ibra
Neymar
Suarez
Benzama
Higuin
Villa

Who is the preferred third choice?

Na i totally agree with you 20-25 mill max and even then i would second guess that purchase. Hes worse then fukin dzeko and people slate him all the time. Pace ye he has pace but how can he use that pace when every 1 else in the team is fukin slow and lethargic not to mention we will have the ball 80 percent of the time where he cant run and exploit his main asset. i know chelski might not sell him but go all in for lukaku PACE,LINKUP, POISE AND HES A FUKIN BEAST !. If not go for beneke or that guy in Fiorintina but plz for the love of god dont buy Cavani

How could anyone want Neymar?
Do we want another Robinho, who just costs us more?

Robinho was known to be problematic half-arsed player even before he joined Madrid and lived that reputation til today.

I used to be cautious and had similar line of thinking about Neymar when first news about him were coming but he is out there for years now and there is nothing but positive stuff about his approach so far. And if you can't see quality there, may God help your football soul :)

There are "few" other players that came to Europe from Brazil in last few decades so there's barely a point of sticking exclusive Robinho mark to Neymar.
