Cavani & Falcao

Head turned but do we have the muscle and appeal to match Real Madrid? His fee is going to be pretty big, I can see it ending up at around £42million despite all of De Laurentiis' posturing about having to meet the £53million release clause. Surely no one will pay that unless the value is brought down by other players going in a swap. I can't see PSG going for him because they already have a top target man in Ibra. Maybe Chelsea, maybe Bayern.

Edinson Cavani’s mother has revealed “he told me he wants to leave Napoli,” but she is trying to convince him to stay.

The striker’s future has been up in the air for many months, as interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid continues to be ramped up amid the €62m buy-out clause.

His mother, Berta Gomez, spoke to Uruguayan radio station Radio Salto Entretiemp.

“He told me he wants to go elsewhere and to leave Napoli, but also that one day he’d love to return to Napoli. Edi doesn’t know what will happen yet.

“Naples is a city that lives for football. The affection of the people is marvellous and I have always told my son: you can go anywhere, but nobody will love you like they do at Napoli.”

Wrong. You're also less likely to get stabbed pretty much anywhere else in the world.

In relation to City, what his mother said here is what I would love to say to Agüero, Kompany, Silva etc...

Edinson... CAVAAAAANNNIIIIIIII!

City are set to make Cavani the highest-paid player in the Premier League with a stunning £13.3million-per-year deal

Manchester City are prepared to make Edinson Cavani the best-paid player in England, with a staggering £13.3million-per-year deal close to being agreed.

But City will have to battle it out with Real Madrid, who are fast emerging as their main rivals for the Napoli forward.

City have made significant progress with their attempts to land the Uruguay frontman after weeks of talks with the player’s representatives.

And it is understood a deal regarding Cavani’s personal terms is near to being finalised, with the package —including incentives and commercial bonuses — worth a massive £256,000 per week. The deal would eclipse that of City striker Carlos Tevez and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who both earn in the region of £250,000 per week.

Cavani, along with Chelsea target Radamel Falcao, will be one of the most sought-after players during the summer transfer window.

In addition to his lucrative wages, the 26-year-old also has a £52m release clause — though City would look to negotiate a lower transfer fee.

Cash-rich Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest in Cavani, but it is Real who City are most worried about. It is understood the deal offered by the Spanish club incorporates a lower basic wage with bigger bonuses and image-rights fees, but Cavani is believed to prefer a move to Madrid over Manchester.
