If I were Cavani (taking off blue spectacles) I would do the same. Why plump for us when it may be he has a choice of us, chelsea and Real Madrid. Furthermore he may well have got an agreement with us over wages etc but why not wait and see what the others have to offer. I don't know what the deal is with Napoli but one assumes Chelsea are pursuing them to see if they can do a deal also. As TH states and I think we are being fair, give the lad another couple of weeks then say its make your mind up time, we should also state we won't be coming back again.
Agreed too many windows we have tried to get cavani.. hopeful this is the last.. win or lose
Like De Rossi in so many ways.
Have too agree. If he,s only a tad interested then pull the plug now.

No for me re both Damião and Suárez. Damião isn't particularly mobile and hasn't looked like a top class finisher for a while. Would be a big risk. Suárez is vile.

If Martínez is the alternative, I'll be happy. Doesn't look that much different to Cavani, just not as much experience in European leagues.

I disagree it isn't like DDR he was Roma through and through, Cavani isn't Napoli through and through and knows he will move. He himself has expressed that he has no problems playing under either Pellegrini or Mourinho. He must know Chelsea are after him and has no doubt been advised by his agent to hold tight because with a potential contest for his signature the agent may be able to secure him a better deal.

What really would scupper this is if Real Madrid suddenly pulled all the stops out to get Saurez and indicated the price for Cavani was too high and Chelsea accepted they could not match the valuation put on him by Napoli. I have no doubt he would then be signing on the dotted line. Call it mercenary if you want, but I suspect this is going to be his last great pay day and he wants to make sure it is in his best interests. I have no problem with this at all.

What are you basing that on? His links to us, Chelsea, Madrid or staying with Napoli, who finished 2nd in their league, (the same as us and Madrid)?

I think that question you asked belongs in the Falcao thread.
Its just seems like he is playing a game with a whole bunch of teams when the end result will be him staying at napoli.. if he wants to stay tell the owner and stop getting media attention or state where u would like to go and move ur shit.
He is a prospective employee of 3 clubs, should he move. He doesn't give a shit about us, Chelsea or Madrid, same way you wouldn't give a shit about 3 potential employers you were looking to join. He, like anyone would, is looking for the best option for him, and if playing a few games creates better options, fair play to him. It's just a job to him, same as it is to anyone else coming here for the big money.
Also we are second or third choice too.

Imho I reckon he's waiting for Madrid to make an offer. If they don't then he will choose one of us but imo us. Real mean best squad and biggest club, great weather, same language and a dream come true probably.

Come on Nip where has all your confidence gone that he will sign?

And it's fair play too. Some people see it as a sign of disrespect and if he does end up there and it's clear he's played us to make that move, you will get the usual suspects who turn to slagging him off. It's now different to John Smith choosing a brickie's job in Spain, but not before having weighed up his options with 2 firms over here first. It's just work.

Still have it. I'm offering a balanced perspective from his p.o.v

In all honesty I'd choose Madrid if I was him. Weather and language are huge factors for him. Choose City after Real.

That's them being narrow minded and ignorant.

First and foremost I'd look to be comfortable, language is a big deal. Family being happy. Weather and environment. Club stature and present and future plans.

It starts with Real imho and fair dues if he chooses them.

FWIW I don't think RM are after him I think this is between us and Chelsea. Might be wrong.
No, I think this too.

Madrid will probably end up bidding upwards of £65m for Bale, because that's what it would probably take for Spurs to accept.

That's after persuading Ronaldo to sign a new deal which they'll persist with all summer.

After that, if they are looking at a striker, it'll be the cheaper one who has expressed his desire to leave his current club quite clearly.
