Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

No official employee of Chelsea would be tweeting things like this (Emenalo being one of their big-wigs). From what one of my Chelsea mates said, he just does occasional media work for them and is a supporter of the club. He's also the one who does those cheesy videos for their youtube channel whenever they sign a player (think we've all seen that cringey Torres one...). He's actually a comedian and musician who doesn't appear to be an official, on-the-payroll employee of them.

Only thing that worries me is that he does seem to have gotten quite a bit right recently. I decided to do a little bit of digging about what he claims.

On Mourinho, he tweeted these back in March:

<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/315612838460805121" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 8460805121</a>
<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/315621885700341760" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 5700341760</a>

...and as we later found out this week, the deal between Mourinho and the Chavs does seem to have been a done deal for quite awhile.

Also found that he tweeted on Aug. 29th that Spurs had agreed a fee with Porto for Moutinho and that the deal was very close, which also was later confirmed by SSN on the 31st but got snagged in the 11th hour on deadline day by Levy being stubborn/cheap: <a class="postlink" href="http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/8037167/Spurs-agree-Moutinho-fee" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... utinho-fee</a>

On our own AJ, he tweeted this:

<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/236927669151866881" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 9151866881</a>

...on Aug 18th, 6 days before being confirmed by Sunderland: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2012/august/johnson-signing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2012 ... on-signing</a>

He tweet this:

<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/233573585401290753" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 5401290753</a>

on Aug. 9th about Van Persie. 6 days later on the 15th, it was confirmed by Arsenal: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/terms-agreed-for-van-persie-transfer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archiv ... e-transfer</a>

Going back farther, I looked up his Mata claims and they too seem to be accurate. He tweeted these on the 19th & 20th of Aug. 2011:

<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/104682852351881216" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 2351881216</a>

<a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/104943077617180673" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/Chris_Cohen/status/ ... 7617180673</a>

...5 days before the deal was completed and confirmed by Chelsea on the 24th: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/2430847" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/2430847</a>

Not sure how to feel.....:/

Let's look at it all for what it is. City, Real & the Chavs have been the 3 teams consistently mentioned in regards to Cavani.

Reports begin to circulate that Real have gone cold on the deal & the Chavs are putting everything into getting Falcao who was apparently nailed on, deal done & dusted leaving City as the only serious competitor in the race.

City refuse to trigger Cavani's £54m buy-out clause & are trying to negotiate a realistic deal that suits us. Laurentis is now seriously pissed that City are playing hardball by refusing point blank to take their y-fronts down & get bummed without lubricant by the Italian nutter.

Statement gets released: Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis said last night: 'There is interest from Chelsea in Cavani, they'll call me in the next few hours. I'll be delighted if he stays, but if he leaves then he will be adequately replaced.'

There's no other source apart from Laurentis. After the Hazard & RVP debacles last year anything is possible, but for me this sounds like brinksmanship at best or at worse its Laurentis trying to stoke up an auction 'they'll call me in the next few hours' (he hopes)! Cavani is a brilliant striker, but he's not the be all & end all.

Both of these players will leave their respective clubs when somebody comes knocking with £70m.

And both are worth every penny.

Here's a scenario, let's give Madrid the money they need for Bale.

Do you really think Ronaldo would move here? (Genuine question, not being a clever dick).

I think it will be Paris or Manchester if Madrid don't bite the bullet and pay him what he wants.

Having lost out on Neymar, Madrid are caught between a rock and a hard place.

With two years left, despite what Perez says, they are now in a rush.

Sure United would go to £50m but not much more.

Here's a curve ball. Ronaldo dreams of living in America one day...

How about in a few years time he fancies a stop in New York.

Anything is possible when pockets are deep enough and dreams are big enough.

Just one of the many reasons I think signing Ronaldo would make sense for him and us and something I posted yesterday.

ADL has got exactly what he wants, an auction with 2 of the richest clubs around. Chelsea have bid €58 mil we bid 60, Chelsea bid 65 etc etc etc, do we really want to get involved in this? and end up paying way over the odds.
He could only bid us up to the release clause, then he has no say, it's up to the player then.

I'm sure Ronaldo could find a club in the MLS without City's help... hardly an incentive for him to join us to be honest.

I think it would be stupid to rule us out for Ronaldo.

Ronaldo turned his contract renewal down because he feels Madrid don't value him like Barca do with Messi, bascially he thinks because he is one of the top two players in world football he deserves to be paid like a top two footballer should i.e give me 300k a week.

Suprisingly in terms of wages, Ronaldo does not break the top ten in highest paid footballers, Messi recently has with his new contract upgrade.

If Tolmie is correct and Ronaldo wants to live in the states later on in life, what a project we could sell him now we have New York FC going, we could make him Mr MLS etc...

What a talent to get for New York FC in getting Ronaldo after his career with us.

United could afford his transfer fee but I don't see them paying him 300k a week, we can do both.

There is no loyality in football anymore so all this come home Ronaldo stuff from United is almost laughable in my opinion, If Ronaldo sees a better deal elsewhere he will go there.

In terms of France, I don't personally think he would want to make such a step down in quality and regardless of wages I can see him holding out for an English club first. Plus, playing in France pretty much rules him out of any world player of year/ Ballon D'or awards in my opinion.

i dunno i still think that pellegrini will get the most out of whoever we have up front even if that is dzeko and aguero. starting to come around to the idea that missing out on cavani wont be the end of the world.

i dunno i just starting to think that money could be spent in other ways if pellegrini can improve aguero and dzeko and the squad as a whole

if chelsea wanna go and plunk 50 mill go ahead cause they'll have to sell before they do anymore buying and they need a centre midfielder
