everbody has bigged up txixi and ferran....lets see if the hype matches the reality when it comes to it......if real madrid are really after cavanni and now also chelsea, the people doing the deals need to earn their money.

If like they say they have been working on it since November then thats 7 months of work....thats plenty of time to have it all but sorted. They shoud have put the ground work in so not to allow the players head to be turned by other requests from teams.....lets see if they can live up to their reputations when it matters

If they really have spent 7months in discussions then the lad will really know we're serious about him. If he chooses somebody else who has spent a few days of discussions with him then it says everything we need to know about him and after seven months of ongoing communication between ourselves then we really have failed and I suggest in future we let some other mugs spend months of delicate negotiations and just turn up at the death and give our pitch in future.

This I agree with >>

If that is true then is there a need to sign any new striker this summer? Should we be waiting till next year when Tevez's contract has expired before getting one, or would our team as a whole (istic) (see what I did there) be better served with trying to get him to sign an extension or new contract. Over the last three years Tevez has demonstrated he can score goals, last season Edin did the same along with Aguero, do you think maybe this season is just a blip and with the correct midfield players in support of our three strikers we could get back to scoring loads of goals without breaking the bank.

I do believe that if you add a pacey creative winger and a good box-to-box midfielder with more energy and drive than a Yugo they would actually have to stop scoring goals just to make the matches fair (especially Dzeko, who has shown what he can do when we actually play with pace and feed him the ball when he is facing goal). I think we already have the midfielder in Rodwell if he can stay healthy (and Fernandinho would be just that, as well) and Isco would be the winger that would send us over the edge. Vidal would be an amazing addition, but might be a bridge too far, unfortunately.

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

We are powerless when this happens. Like it or not, Real Madrid are one of the biggest clubs in World Football and City as a club has to work twice as hard in convincing Cavani we are the right fit for his career.

I am very disappointed in you Ducado. You are asking us to change our very nature--to shed our self-obsessive yokes and stroll out in to the open pastures of serenity.

Where would Bluemoon be without the gnashing of teeth and rubbing of gravel in our hair? How would this forum survive if we were a collection of confident, steady, and considered supporters?

How can I eat my pie and have it, too?

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

If Cavani ends up at Real I don't see how you can blame it on Txiki. You can do ass much work as you want, offer him a huge contract and give in to every demand he has but if he wants to go to Real he can and he will.

This is a possibility, but obviously people like shiny new toys, so would be seen as a great disappointment. Even though prior to signing Dzeko there was plenty of 'last piece of the puzzle' talk; Even in his first half season of settling in he scored us some crucial goals directly contributing to both the FA Cup and Champions League spot (a position up on our original target to boot).

Going into next season with a strike force of Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and hopefully Guidetti would be absolutely fine. Better than fine in fact, that's still a better strike force than anyone in the league and as good as plenty in Europe.

All we need to do is strike a better attacking balance with the midfield, both in personnel and tactics. If we evolve from having a solid defence and just letting our few creative players pull rabbits out of hats to a solid defence and organised attack, everyone will score more. Not just the strikers, Silva, possibly Isco, Yaya, and if his luck holds out I bet Rodwell will have more than a few braces in him next season too.
