Cavani Speculation/News (page 151 onwards)

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

FIFA agent Bronzetti says that there's been no offer from Madrid and that we're the only ones who have made a concrete offer. He also says that he thinks cavani could end up staying at napoli

I'd be surprised (and delighted) if Cavani or any other striker chose City over Chelsea. Chelsea are only a striker away from being a real challenger again. Where better to go if you are a top striker. Money, London and Ambition.

My hope though is that we've got in early enough with the agent to set all the groundwork so that we can get the deal done immediately once Pelligrini's in place.

The more I think of it, it's a long shot for us to get Cavani.

Money and Ambition I think we are ahead of Chelsea as I think the mini tour shows and as for London he will be 50mins to 2hrs away from the place with flights of trains, also if he is to come over here and settle in quickly there is now a large south american contingent of footballers in the north west including the only 2 other Uruguayan players in the prem, so I think we are in pole position with him

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

We could easily challenge for the league without Cavani, but with him added, we will be an exceptional side. He will have the same impact as Van Persie did last year for the rags, except for being a better all round player and adding to a better all round team. Aguero would thrive being given that bit more freedom and Cavani would require special marking in a game that would allow freedom and space to our other players. If we can pull this off it would be incredible. We are definitely interested in him, we are as good, if not better placed than Chelsea for him and it is whether we give in to agent demands or wages etc. But we should do everything to sign him. I think Chelsea have joined this one too late!

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

Hopefully we have an incoming manager (Pelligrini) who players want to play for so we should be able to attract quality high profile players - In Mancini it would appear we had a manager that a lot of players did NOT enjoy his management style and I'm sure players talk and word gets round amongst professional players .... I've not heard any positive noises coming from the Cavani camp so I doubt we'll sign him, a few days ago some papers were saying we were close to signing Falcao!!

I think Isco (assuming Pellegrini is coming) and Fenandihno transfers look likely :-)

Where's our natural sitting midfielder, has Barry f=got another good year in him and will Pellgegrini fancy him? Yaya at times looks suspect defensively would much prefer him pushed further forward... We should never have sold Djong :-/

Seriously. Do these players see a footballing life outside Serie A? Let's be honest about it, Serie A is way down the pecking order compared to the PL, La Liga, and the Bundesliga.

If Cavani wants to spend the rest of his career at Napoli playing football in the Sun, then just tell us once and for all, instead of the annual circus that comes with trying to sign him and other Serie A based players.

“If an important offer were to come in, I would talk with president De Laurentiis. I'm fine in Italy, I have grown as a man there and as a player with the Serie A experience.”

Re: Cavani Speculation/News

I know the right players aren't always available, but wouldn't we be better off spending £60m in other areas of the team, and leaving Aguero up front?

If Cavani comes in, he comes in at the expense of Aguero who would have to play wide.

We're not going to get Cavani for less than the release fee, as he is not going to agitate for a move.

Get Alexis Sanchez. We don't have a wide man. But we do have a star forward in Aguero. We don't need 2

It's not a case of getting 11 star players in. It's a case of getting 11 players who complement each other.

Clearly the club have identified the need for a more clinical and mobile striker or else they wouldn't bother with such a difficult transfer pursuit. Cavani needs 5 shots to score, Aguero needs 8, so pairing them would mean more goals (on paper). Cavani would also add a lot to the 'team' aspect with his tireless workrate we haven't seen from recent target men (Adebayor, Dzeko, Balotelli). Also, Napoli are open to the cash + player swap, so if Dzeko will go the other way (I have my doubts) we'll be spending a lot less than the full amount (plus there is the Balotelli money that contributes to it).

And Sanchez has said he has no interest in leaving Barca either.
